        Belcher Benjamin F.
        ME 8 Inf C U 10/6/63 7/13/64 P MW place not stated No
Note: Residence Belmont, ME, 28 years old. He was drafted. Date and place where he was MW is not stated. There were 1,673 men to serve in the regiment. Their casualty figures were K/MW 6 officers and 128 enlisted men. However, Benjamin's death does not show in these numbers regarding the date of wounding or place where it happened. There is little doubt that it was around Petersburg, VA. This regiment paid a pretty high price because 128 officers DOD and 243 enlisted DOD. Not sure of how many were wounded, but I am sure it was high, for only about 18 month of service in the war. The regiment did not disband until 1/8/66. On Broadfoot and muster roll of box 543, extraction 2, and record 465. HDS NFR.
