        [64]. At a VestryOne other Vestry remains to be noted, and that is for the year 1840 , the record of which will be found in Register 4. It runs as follows:-- " 22 Apr 1840.--A vestry was held this day for the purpose of examining according to custom the accounts of the churchwardens for the year preceding but the books being in possession of the Vice-Chancellor in which those accounts are entered, no such accounts could be examined. Notice was given for receiving tenders this day for four separate half acres of land set out by the Commissioners at the time of the inclosure of this Parish for the purpose of digging stones for the repair of the high roads of it. One half acre adjoins the property of Mr. Bartlett Miller, of Brampton. The said Mr. Bartlett Miller offered by tender the sum of �35 for this said half-acre, which being the only tender, was accepted. Another half-acre adjoins the property of Mr. John Ekins, of Brixworth. The said Mr. John Ekins offered by tender the sum of �35 for this said half-acre, which being the only tender, was accepted. The third half-acre adjoins the property of Mr. Anthony Barker Childs, of Ecton. The said Mr. Anthony Barker Childs offered by tender the sum of �25 for this said half-acre, which being the only tender, was accepted. For the fourth half-acre no tender was received. This being the day for electing Churchwardens for the year ensuing, Mr. Samuel Marsh was nominated by the Reverend Thomas Sanders as the Minister's Churchwarden; and Mr. Barber proposed and Mr. John Tressler seconded the proposal, that Mr. Hillyard be the Parish Churchwarden for the said time, which [was] passed unanimously. It was also resolved unanimously that a Church-rate of twopence in the Pound be collected forthwith. [Signed] <Thomas Sanders, Chairman; Clark Hillyard, Wm. Barber, John Tressler, Saml. Marsh, John Tressler, Junr." held 25 Mar 1799 Wm Marsh was chosen Ch: Warden for the ensuing Year by me, Wm Stanton Vicar. At the same Vestry John Bond was chosen Ch: Warden for the ensuing year by the Parishioners underwritten. Wm Barber, W. Collins, Jno Aspinal, Samuel Marsh. At the same Vestry Wm Marsh & John Bond were chosen Overseers & Constables for the ensuing Year by the Parishioners underwritten. Wm Stanton Vicar, Wm Collins, Jno Aspinal, Wm Barber, Samuel Marsh.
