John George Belcher son of George Belcher and Sally Taylor

The 1840 Census shows John had two sons under the age of 10 that we do not know their names

Sue Holm from Australia has sent information about john Belcher one of those sons:
George and Sally's first child - John George Belcher (b. 1831 Kanawa Co and d. 1882 Cooma district NSW Aust) did not appear in the census records in America as he had moved on and travelled to Australia.

John Belcher was mentioned in a letter about the pioneering families of the Monaro goldfields. This letter was written by his grandson CJM Thomas:
"The Kiandra goldfields were booming in those days, and my mother's father, John Belcher, who emigrated from America, was an engineer and well versed in saw-milling. Father, having two teams of bullocks and my grandfather having the "know-how" of building and running saw mills."
I will be happy to pass on any further information as I collect it. My aunt has recently had a book published on the American emigrant ships that came to Australia in the 1870's a nd she will be putting me in touch with another researcher who is doing the American migrant ships from the 1850's , so I hope to be able to track down JGB's entry into Australia soon.
