Has a copy of "Victoria History of the Counties of England", edited by Oswell Barron which says "Henry Isham of the ancient house of Pitchley emigrated to Virginia. Who his first wife was is unknown: several references to her suggest her name to be Elizabeth. Phoebe Isham is a daughter from this marriage and a son, Edward or Edmund." Begun in 1899 and dedicated to Queen Victoria the Victoria County History (VCH) is creating an encyclopaedic history of the counties of England, based on original research and ranging from earliest times to the present. |
