I pity the child who never attended a rural school. Simply because of smaller numbers of students, they were more like family than school. The child felt like he was part of something. By closing the small schools in favor of big, impersonal schools, where the child feels insignificant among such great numbers, society took away that part of childhood, which today it sorely lacks.

All are Maury County Schools unless othersise noted.

Lasea School, 1911. The community was located on Lasea Road, about seven miles east on Old Bear Creek Pike.
