According to family records, *Adolphus M. GREEN was born in New Ashford, Berkshire Co., Massachusetts on 29 OCT 1793 to parents of English descent. His married about 11 OCT 1816 to Sally RODERICK. She died about 1820. Adolphus married Elethear COLE on 15 MAR 1821. She was born in Kingsbury, Washington Co., NY in 1800. (NOTE: There is a Samuel COLE died 15 DEC 1834 age 62 years and wife Susannah died 15 JAN 1855 age 74 yrs., 8 months buried in a cemetary on Dean Road, Kingsbury, Washington county NY.) Adolphus and Elethear Green lived in Monroe Co., NY from about 1821 to 1823 and Danville, Steuben Co., NY from 1824 to 1830. By 1831, they resided in Greenwich twp., Huron Co., Ohio.
A. M. Green owned 108 acres in the south part of
section 19, Marion
Township in the 1859 atlas of Livingston County. The
Green Cemetery is
located on that property. It is about 1 acre in
size. A lot of old stones
there, some with death dates from the late 1840's.
Many are broken and
unreadable.

the DAR about 1950:

The earliest deaths recorded in Vol. 1 of the death
records occurred in
April 1867 so it appears she died before they
started recording deaths.
There were five sons in the GREEN family.
(1)The oldest son, Willard K. was born MAY 1818 in Washington Co., NY. Mother was Sally Roderick.
He is in the 1840 Monroe Co., Rush twp., NY census at age 15-20 and listed with a female age 15-20.
(2)Rush died as newborn infant about 6 JUNE 1820. Mother was Sally Roderick.
(3)*Mason was born 15 JAN 1822 in Monroe Co., NY. His mother was *Elethear COLE. He married *Mary Anna SHELDON, daughter of David W. and Julia (RHODES) SHELDON of Greenwich twp., Huron Co., OH. (See Mason GREEN link below) Mason died 12 APR 1889 in Ottokee, OH.
(4)*Miles was born about 1823 in Monroe Co.,NY. He married Lucretia WOOD, daughter of George H. Wood on 4 JULY 1852 in Livingston co., MI. They had four children: George Reilly GREEN born APR 1854, Charles A. born 24 MAR 1856, Elmer E. born 24 NOV 1860, and Emma born 2 JULY 1858 in Marion, Livingston Co., MI. Milo was in the Civil War, 10th Calvary, Co.K, MI. He died 18 JAN 1864 of Typhoid Fever. He is buried at Camp Nelson National Cemetary, Jessamine Co., KY, Grave #D224.
(5)Sarah Agnes (Sally) was born 23 SEPT 1824 in Danville, Steuben co., NY. She married Asahel A. ABBOTT 13 SEPT 1842 Greenwich twp., Huron Co., OH. She died 24 MAR 1884 Marion twp., Livingston co., MI. Both are buried in GREEN Cemetary.
(6)Matilda born 1825 in Danville, Steuben Co., NY.
(7)Elizabeth J. born about 1826 in Danville, NY. Married Mr. BEACH, died 4/10/1863 in Ingham co., MI? Buried in Green Cemetery, Livingston Co., MI. Need marriage record?
(8)Lucinda P. born about 1829 in Danville, NY. Married 1st 8 MAR 1848 to Joseph W. ROUNDS, 2nd 1869 to Simon P. KUHN (Click here for Simon and Lucinda Kuhn Biography and pictures). Joseph and Lucinda had several children. 1880 Iosco tpw., Livingston Co., MI census shows Andrew W., age 18 and Rufus Rounds, age 24 living with Mr. Kuhn. There were also daughters. She died 28 DEC 1872 in Iosco twp., Livingston Co., MI. She and Simon had one son Claud M. Kuhn. Lucinda is buried in Munsell Cemetary.

(10) Clarissa born about 1833 in Greenwich twp., Huron Co., OH.
(11)Manerva (Vera?) 1856 Ingham co., MI or Miranda (M.J.) born Greenwich twp., Huron Co., OH. Miranda may have married Seth MEAD in Ohio. May have died before 1869 in Mason, Ingham Co., MI?
(12)Caroline born about 1834 in Greenwich twp., Huron Co., OH.
(13) Emeline C. born about 1835 in Greenwich twp., Huron Co., OH. She married (?) Adison S. BARBER and lived in Iosco twp., Livingston Co., MI in 1870. Children in 1870 census were Minnie M., age 4 and Isaiah E. or C., born in 1870. (Found an Addison S. Barber born NY and died 25 JUNE 1909, Howell, MI, 76 years, 8 mo., 29 d., parent listed as C. BARBER.)

(14)Adeline J. Green married Jonathan L. Davis in 1854, Marion twp., Livingston Co., MI.
In 1860, Jonathan L. Davis, age 30 and Adeline J., age 24, lived in Grant County, Hickory Grove, Wisconsin with two sons, Herbert M., age 5 and Frank, age 1. Later they moved back to Livingston Co., MI. (15)Reuben, the youngest son was born about 1844 in Greenwich twp., Huron Co., Ohio. His wife was Thirza M. In 1870, they are living in Livingston Co., Putnam twp., near Brighton, MI. Reuben is age 29 and Theresa M. is listed as age 27. They lived in Howell, MI in the 1880 census. Reuben was age 38 and Thirza was age 36 with no children.
In 1846, Huron County land records show Adolphus and Elethear sold their land located at the corner of State Route 13 and Alpha Road in Greenwich twp., Huron Co., OH, to Philena GRIFFIN. They relocated to Marion twp., Livingston Co., Michigan. (Click Here to see Old Huron Co.,Ohio Plat Map)
Two of their sons were Civil War soldiers. (Mason, Corporal in the 166th Regiment, Co. C, OH. Miles, 10th Calvary, Co.K, MI. He died during the war, 18 JAN 1864 of typhoid fever and is buried at Camp Nelson National Cemetary in Jessamine Co., Kentucky.
Adolphus died 28 JUNE 1869. Elethear died 12 FEB 1867. Livingston Co., Michigan cemetary records list them as buried in GREEN cemetary, Marion twp. near daughter Sally and her husband, Asahel A. ABBOTT.
The seven generation GREEN family tree continues to grow deep roots in Ohio. After 168 years and continuing into the year 2000, descendents of Adolphus and Elethear GREEN still reside in Ohio.
