Important Dates in GENTREK History
April 2000
DJ became a host in the AOL Genealogy Forum.
September 2000
Dae became a host (and thus DJ's forum sibling) in the AOL Genealogy Forum.
October, 2000
Dae and DJ came up with the idea for a "teaching" chat in the AOL Genealogy Forum.
December, 2000
We found out Dae was going to graduate from training sooner than we expected so we had to get our "idea" out of the planning phase and into the approval process.
January 8, 2001
GENTREK was officially approved!
January, 2001
GENTREK name was chosen, and the format for the chat finalized. The decision was made to begin in Mid-February after the GenTech conference in Tx.
February 1, 2, and 3, 2001
GenTech conference in Dallas TX.
Dae and DJ finally met in person, and finalized the last of the decisions to get the chat going the way they wanted.
They gathered many ideas for future topics in GENTREK.

The forum chat schedule is changed which gave GENTREK a shot at moving to a bigger room and an earlier time slot.

Unk Hiram hosts a genealogy workshop in his local area, north of Dallas.
Dae and DJ both speak at this workshop, and get to meet each other in person for the 2nd time.

GENTREK moves to the Golden Gates chat room.
GENTREK is now 8-10pm ET on Monday nights.
October, 2002
Sleuth joins the GENTREK team during her training.
December, 2002
Sleuth agrees to stay on the GENTREK team.

GFL gives his blessing to take GENTREK to the web.

The first GENTREK page hits the web. Not much content yet, but it's a start.
