This site is dedicated to the memory of John Marcinkowski (1926 - 2012), a friend and colleague.
John was the author of the Flory Flora Fleury 1973 Supplement to the original Flory Flora Fleury Family History 1948, which had been compiled by Walter Q. Bunderman.
In 2001, John and I agreed that it was time for another update and that this new update should be an online publication rather than a printed book. Together, we cofounded this site of the family of the 1733 immigrant, Joseph Flory.
Without John's encouragement, knowledge and resources, this project would never have been undertaken.
If you have an ancestor with a last name pronounced “Flor-ee” or “Flor-ah”, then there is a good chance that you are a descendant of Joseph Flory, who immigrated to America in 1733, settling in Rapho Twp., Lancaster Co., PA. However, there are several different Flor-ee/Flor-ah lines that immigrated to the New World, and if you haven’t yet, you should start your search at either Ken Florey’s Flory/Flora/Florey/Florea/Flori or Steve Flora's Florhi + Flory + Flora + Florey + Florig + Florea site. Here you will find an overview of the different lines, including this Joseph Flory, who is line C in either of the above sites.
The goal of this project, a joint venture started by John Marcinkowski and myself (Richard Gethmann), is to compile an on-line listing of all of the known descendants of Joseph Flory. As such, this represents the “third generation” of publications of the family of Joseph Flory, following first Walter Q. Bunderman’s 1948 book and Joel C. Flora’s 1951 book, and then John P. Marcinkowski’s 1973 Supplement and John Boitnott's 1979 book.
The information contained in these web sites started from the databases of David Blocker and Ed Peters, the books mentioned above, various other family pedigree books containing Flory family members, family data that John had collected since 1973, contributions from individual descendants of Joseph, and finally, from various online sites, especially the census and state vital records. We estimate that by the time this project is completed, it will contain over 100,000 names.

Acknowledgments
John and I never would have undertaken this task if it had not been for the large database of Flory descendants that David Blocker has collected over the last several years. David generously donated his database to us, which contained over 30,000 entries at the time.
Special thanks is also due to Ed Peters, who donated his Peters database of nearly 18,000 people.
We would also like to acknowledge the numerous people who have submitted their Flory/Flora family data, all of which has greatly enhanced this site.
