 Organized from 8th West Virginia Mounted Infantry, January 26, 1864. Attached
to 3rd Brigade, 4th Division, West Virginia, to April 1864. 3rd Brigade, 2nd
Cavalry Division, West Virginia, to June 1864. 2nd Brigade, 2nd Cavalry
Division, West Virginia, to July 1864. 1st Separate Brigade, Kanawha Valley,
West Virginia, to August, 1865. The regiment lost during service 5 Officers
and 28 Enlisted men killed and mortally wounded and 2 Officers and 210
Enlisted men by disease. Total 236.

These are the Stovers who served in the 7th Regiment Cavalry.

Stover, Allen -- Company  H  --  WA#463598   enlisted 1 Sept 1861 Raleigh 
Co. -- 6' 2" tall, fair comp, blue eyes, brown hair --born about 1842  
Raleigh Co Va.  son of William and Elizabeth Wriston Stover -- 
siblilngs:  Julia Ann, Jane, Emily,  and Patterson.

Stover,  Charles, Co H-PC#93227-enlisted 1 Sept 1861 2nd Lt 14 Dec 1862, 
1st Lt. 19 Aug 1863, Capt. 29 Apr 1865.F'11" tall, fair Comp, blue eyes, 
light hair, born about 1836 Raleigh Co, VA, the son of Sampson and 
Judah Bailey Stover, died 22 Nov 1879-md Mary A Maynor the dau of 
Joseph and Elizabeth Maynor 17 Dec 1860 Raleigh Co-children were 
twins Jackson and James born 2 Nov 1861.

Stover, Clarkson, - Co H, FC#180661-enlisted 1 Sept 1861  died at home 
2 July 1862 of service, connected disease, born abt 1840 Raleigh Co-
5'10" tall, fair comp, blue eyes, light hair - His parents Sampson Stover
and Juda Bailey were married in the month of March 1832.

Coalsmouth - 5'5" tall, florid comp, hazel eyes, light hair - born about 
1830 Raleigh Co, VA, died 17 Mar 1868 - married Elizabeth Grayley 19 Mar 
1853 Kanawha Co, VA - The following children were all born in Lincoln Co,WV:

Stover, Eli- Company C- enlisted 5 Sept 1861 to 1 Aug 1865- He was in 
Company C and born abt 1839 in Kanawha, Co. W.Va. PC#274976, WC#880499 -
 ;5'5' tall, fair comp, blue eyes, light hair. He lived in St Albans, 
WV in 1865 and married Emma Jane Turley, 23 May 1861 in Kanawha Co

Stover, Francis Marion - Co H-PC#664801, WC#938731 enlisted Aug 1862 to 
1865-born 11 Dec 1843 Matville Raleigh Co, VA s/o Lewis and Delilah 
Stover, died 31 Aug 1920 Paint Creek, WV - 5'11" tall, fair comp, 
blue eyes, light hair - maried Leanza Brown, d/o Granville 16 Aug 1864, 
Kanawha Co, they divorced 20 July 1869 Raleigh co, WV; married 
Melvina Williams, d/o Andrew and Juda Williams 23 Jul 1869 Raleigh Co, 
she died 2 Sep 1903, md Caroline Morris, 15 Dec 1903 Kanawha Co, WV, 
Caroline was previsouly married to #1 Warren Kaylor in 1867, they 
divorced 1870, she then md Jacob Morris, who died in 1900 Children 
were: Juda C, born 6 May 1870, Tempe born 13 May 1874 and Anderson born 
31 Aug 1879

Stover, George - Co H -PC#951477 - enlisted 25 Dec 1861 in Raleigh Co, 
discharged 23 Jan 1865. Also known as Linas Stover. 5'10" tall, fair
comp, blue eyes, light hair - born 7 Sep 1840 Raleigh Co - the son of 
Abram and Mahala Wooten Stover, died 7 May 1925 in Hot Springs SD-
