C.A. Wilson, 85, Dies Suddenly
Funeral Services Sunday for Native of Theresa, Ill One Day

Theresa, November 22 - Charles A. Wilson, 85, of this township, died suddenly at the Noble Foundation Hospital, Alexandria Bay at 12:45 Thursday afternoon from a hemorrhage and heart condition. He had been active about the home farm at Hyde Lake, where he resided, but complained of indigiestion on Monday morning, and the physician gave the cause as a slight attack of thrombosis. He was taken to the hospital for treatment. He felt better Wednesday and was about the hospital and again Thursday, but was suddenly taken ill at 12:45 and died soon after. It had been his boast that he was never ill and could always work and enjoy life.

He was born at the Wilson Homestead April 2, 1861, son of the late Charles and Philista Wilson. His young manhood was spent on the farm and after the death of his father the son began the work on the home farm. For a time he was well known as a breeder of purebreed Holstein cows.

When the Theresa Grange was organized in the early spring of 1890, he was active in promoting the organization and became its first overseer. He also served as master for a time.

For a period of time he retired from the farm and resided in this village, but wa homesick for the old home and returned there to live, although his son, Alfred, had purchased the place.

Early in life he became a member of the Methodist Church and was years ago elected as trustee, a position he held at the time of his death. He was one of the oldest members of the church, was the oldest on the board of trustees, and the senior member of the board. He was seldom absent from his pew in church, but last Sunday was unable to attend. He served in other churhc offices and was for a time assistant superintendent of the Sunday school.

He was twice married, first to Hattie West and after her death he married Mary Rundlett. Her death took place in 1942. He is survived by two children, Mrs. Earl (Lora) Hunter, Plessis; and Alfred of this town. There are twelve grandchildren. One daughter, Hattie, died a few years ago.

The funeral services will be held from the Methodist Church on Sunday afternoon at 2:30, with prayers at the home at 2. Rev. Kenneth D. Jones, pastor of the church, will officiate. Burial will be made in Oakwood Cemetery, Theresa. The same bearers who acted at the death of Mrs. Charles Wilson, will act at this time, all grandchildren and are: Thomas, Robert, Paul and Douglas Hunter and Roger and Neil Wilson.
