(Note: Neither Thomas Percy nor Catherine appear in census records with these parents in which their names are given, but the 1830 and 1840 censuses do indicate that these parents had children older than those who appear by name in 1850. An affidavit given in 1935 by Edom [Edmond] Messer Gilchrist, lists both Thomas P. Gilchrist and Catherine [Katherine] Gilchrist as siblings of his father, John A. Gilchrist. They are also mentioned in a very old family history prepared by an unknown author.)
