MY GILLON FAMILY

From Clydebank, Dunbartonshire, Scotland

Welcome to my Gillon site.  I constructed this site for my  Gillon family from Clydebank,    Dunbartonshire, Scotland, to honor all those that are the Gillon ancestors and descendants of my grandfather, Charles Gillon.

The last five generations of Gillons have included a number with music talents.  Charles Gillon taught his children to play instruments, and a number of  descendants have followed this tradition.

Some of the Gillons who resided in Clydebank worked on the shipyards for John Brown where the Queen Mary and the QE2 were built. Other Gillons worked for Singer Sewing Machine, right there in Clydebank, where the company began. Whatever be their trade, I have found my Gillon kin  to be hard working people, with a real love for their families.

Although I was born in the U.S., it has been my privilege to visit my mother's homeland in Scotland and get acquainted with my Gillon  cousins that still reside there.

I have asked my cousin, Robert (Rob) Gillon to take over this Gillon site should I not be able to keep this updated. Rob is the son of Tony and Julie Gillon of Scunthorpe, Lincolnshire, England, the grandson of Robert Gillon, the son of Charles Gillon, featured in this website. It's been my pleasure over the past several years to visit  with this family and get to know them. Rob studied piano and is very talented. His great-grandfather would be very proud of his accomplishments, as are his parents.  Rob is the last male of the Gillon family to carry on the family name, and even though he now lives in Japan, we keep in touch often, and through Facebook, he keeps in touch with his cousins here in America.  He has kindly accepted the responsibility of continuing this Gillon site when I am unable to do so. In the meantime, he will have the files to this website and I hope he will add to it.

TO ALL OUR GILLON COUSINS, If there is anything that you would like to see put on this site, or removed from this site, please let me know.   Barbara McClelland Lewis

 The Lewis Family Web Site
The above Lewis site hasn't been updated since I created it many years ago.  I was in a class learning HTML.
I've just left it online because there are a few important histories of the Lewis Family found here.

The following sites are used in the various Family History Classes that I teach:

Scottish Research on the Internet
English Research on the Internet
Irish Research on the Internet
