DAVID HOLLIS

Is the son of Rev. A. L. Hollis, who was a minister of the gospel for forty-six years, and died with a full hope of immorality beyond the grave. David was born in the state of Tennessee, in the year 1824, and continued to live with his parents until he was eighteen years of age, when he received liberty from his father to do for himself. He labored at whatever he could get to do until 1844, when he married Miss Mary C. Liggit, of Missouri, and moved to and settled on section 20, in Spring Creek township, Pike county, Illinois, where he has resided ever since. He has always been engaged in farming and raising stock.

Mr. Hollis was the first justice of the peace in Spring Creek township, and has now held that office for more than twenty years. In 1865 Mrs. Hollis died, and in 1870 Mr. Hollis married Miss Sarah M. Mason, formerly of Missouri. Mr. Hollis is the father of six children, five of whom are now living — one married and four at home. Mr. H. is a man of many good and Christian qualities, and is highly respected wherever known.
