Was born in Brown county, Ohio, in February, 1808. He was the youngest son of Daniel and Lucretia Reynolds, who
were natives of New York. Mr. Reynolds received his early education in the common schools of his native state,
and until the age of twenty-one his time was principally employed on his father's farm. About that time he was
married to Miss Mary Ann, daughter of John and Rebecca Forsythe. Mr. Forsythe was a native of Pennsylvania, and
at quite an early age he emigrated to Brown county, Ohio, where he became acquainted with and married Miss Rebecca
Pitsor, whose ancestors were natives of Germany. They raised a family of six children, of whom Mrs. Reynolds is
the second. She was born in July, 1810.
Mr. Reynolds, after his marriage, engaged in agricultural pursuits in the state of Ohio until 1847, when he removed
with his family to Illinois, locating in Pike county April 1st, 1847, where he again engaged in agricultural pursuits
and stock raising, meeting with reasonable success. Mr. Reynolds has had a family of eleven children, eight of
whom are yet living. In October, 1862, Mr. Reynolds died at his residence. His widow, two daughters, and son-in-law
are residing on the old homestead, north of Griggsville. Two of their sons were physicians. William B. is now practicing
his profession in Morgan county, Illinois. The other son, Dr. Jacob Reynolds, met with a lamentable fate while
out on a hunting excursion. He was wounded by the accidental discharge of his gun, which caused his untimely death.
He left a wife and one child. Mr. and Mrs. Reynolds were both members of the Christian church.
