Was born in Hamilton, Butler county, Ohio, September 1, 1818. His father, Jacob Rickart, was born near Abingdon,
Virginia, in 1780. At about the age of twenty-four he was married to Miss Deliah, daughter of William and Amy Crooks,
of Butler county, Ohio. They had a family of eleven children, of whom the subject of this sketch is the fourth.
At present, only eight are living.
In 1824 he engaged in farming, and carried on the business for several years. In 1838 he moved to Green county,
Illinois, and died at his residence in 1844. His wife survived him until 1868. David employed much of his early
time on his father's farm. He came to this state with his parents. In 1841 he was married to Miss Magdeline, daughter
of Reson Nighswonger. They have had two children. Mr. Rickart followed farming until 1852, when he moved to Perry
and entered a store as clerk. He is now a member of the enterprising firm of Baird & Pickart. Politically,
