HENRY WENDORFF

Was born in Germany in 1828. He emigrated to the United States in 1856, and stopped in the city of Buffalo for six months. He then moved to the city of Quincy, in the state of Illinois, where he remained two years, and then moved to the town of Barry, in Pike county, where he permanently located and engaged in the general furniture and upholstering business. In 1857 he married Miss Carolina Herman. She was born in Germany in 1836, and emigrated to the United States in 1857. When Mr. Wendorff came to this country he was very poor, but was industrious and economical, and by giving strict attention to business he has prospered well in life, and has succeeded in gaining and retaining the confidence of all who know him. He is now well established and is carrying a heavy stock of first class goods in his line, perhaps the heaviest and best stock of furniture in Pike county. He manufactures a great deal of his goods, and employs none but the best mechanics and uses none but the best of material. He challenges competition in prices, considering style and quality, consequently those wishing goods in his line will do well to give him a call and examine his stock. Mr. and Mrs. Wendorff have had born to them six interesting children, all living. Mr. W. is a strictly moral man, and stands high in the moral community in which he lives.
