Gaulke is a German surname, but I don’t know its meaning.

Thanks to my cousin, Don Sweaney, who moved to Springfield, Missouri (where I live) in 1998, I have recently (1999) found some new leads on my Wegner and Miller, Fredrich and Gaulke families. He ordered some microfilms of church and civil records for Karnitz and Hoff in Pommern which contain valuable information on my Miller/Mueller and connected families.

My earliest known GAULKE ancestor is Maria GAULKE. Interestingly enough, Don Sweaney has recently discovered that I am doubly descended from Maria GAULKE as my great-great-grandparents, Minnie MILLER and Ferdinand WEGNER were first cousins. Maria Gaulke and David FREDRICH are their mutual grandparents. What a small world we live in!
