Some information has been provided by kit submitters and their own research. Other information has been added from other sources. Additions and corrections are welcome.
Lineage information in brackets { } lists the Group Number and the DNA Kit Number as found on the Harris Y-DNA Results Page. The kit numbers are listed in the same order as presented on the Harris Y-DNA Results Page. If you are looking for a specific kit number, click CONTROL and F at the same time. Then do a key word search by kit number or name of earliest-known ancestor. Additional information will be included as more DNA markers are tested and as more participants match up with this grouping. This is an ongoing project seeking to chart out lines of descent that have been DNA tested as shown on the Harris Y-DNA Results Page. Information is based on DNA results, lineage information supplied by kit submitters, Bible records, vital records, legal documents, census records, family histories, internet sources, etc. In some cases the paper trail and/or information found on the web or other sources may be in error. Please view this information as a tool and not as proven fact.
Three lines so far have been submitted for this group. Two of these trace back to James Harris (ca. 1700-1763) of Elizabeth, New Jersey. Kit #8901 traces back to George Harris (1741-1822) of Washington Co., Pennsylvania, son of James Harris (ca. 1700-1763) of Elizabeth, New Jersey.. Kit #50883 traces back to Thomas Steven Harris (1743-1822) of Knox Co., Ohio, son of James Harris (ca. 1700-1763) of Elizabeth, New Jersey. The other kit submitted traces back to Caleb Russell Harris (1796-1868) of New Jersey and Richardson Co., Nebraska. Although this line also originates in New Jersey, so far the Caleb Russell Harris line has not been connected to the James Harris (ca. 1700-1763) line.
The modal listing of Group 14 up to 37 markers is listed on the HARRIS Y-DNA RESULTS Page.
In order to better compare matches in Group 7, the modal listing has also been posted on Ysearch with a user ID of SWY2S. To view the modal listing go to the Ysearch user ID page for SWY2S
This modal listing has also been posted at Ancestry.com on its DNA site. For those in Group 14 who have tested (or posted their results for free) with Ancestry.com, you should find a match with Group14Modal and surname Harris.
For an exact match to this group, the submitter must be a male with the HARRIS surname, be from the same haplogroup, and the DNA markers from his kit number should match exactly with these results. In most cases there will be at least one variation in DNA marker values. If the two test kits are from close relatives, then the variation is due to normal mutations of DNA. DNA mutations usually occur every 3 or 4 generations. Some specific markers tested are known to mutate faster than others.
