Roberts, of course, is a common surname. I learned about the Roberts connection through studying the Callico family of Madison County, Arkansas, where several of my wife's ancestors lived. I have compiled a listing of a number of descendants of Kima Nevada Roberts and Franklin Montgomery Callico. There are also some of this family listed in a book on the Herriman family. A Herriman reunion was held in Madison County, Arkansas, in the summer of 1999.
Also, through my study of Revolutionary War soldiers buried in the Missouri Ozarks, I have found reference to a Roberts/Robbirds/Robirds family that settled in Texas County, Missouri, near Cabool. This is William Roberts, of Irish descent, with ancestors in Virginia and then in North Carolina before moving to Missouri. William Roberts, Sr., the Revolutionary War soldier, was born September 25, 1762 on the Neuse River in Johnston County, North Carolina. He served at the Battle of Eutau Springss from North Carolina and married Ann Vandegriff on January 27, 1784. In 1838 he moved to the Missouri Ozarks with his family. Some descendants ended up in Christian County, Missouri (near where I live). He died about October 1846, after receiving his last pension payment for service in the Revolutionary War. More information on this Roberts family can be found on the Ozark Mountain Chapter Sons of the American Revolution page that I manage: https://sites.rootsweb.com/~moomcsam/
There is no connection between this William Roberts and my wife's Roberts family.
Here is my wife's ROBERTS lineage as far as can be proven:

Post a query (or information from any one of the above categories) on any ROBERTS name or related family. Please give dates, and locations they lived. Try to give as much information as possible.
An online genealogy forum for posting queries has also been set up specifically for the ROBERTS family on GenForum. It can be found at the following address:
***Note***During the Fall of 1998, GenForum combined with Family Tree Maker, which means that all queries and information posted to that site becomes the property of Family Tree Maker. This is still a good site to look up information and get contact names for the ROBERTS/ROBBIRDS/ROBIRDS lines you are searching, but be advised that if you now post a new query or a response to something on that site, chances are that sometime in the future Family Tree Maker will include that information on a CD-ROM which they will sell for profit to anyone who is interested. I do not like the idea of someone else using my hard researched information and ideas and selling them for a profit without my knowledge. This same practice is evident on all of the Family Tree Maker pages which are found on the internet, if you will read the disclaimer notices on those pages. I recommend the Family Tree Maker pages as good look up pages, but I don't recommend posting information there. Similar things can be said for Ancestry.com and MyFamily.com which are connected to each other and seek to make a profit from genealogical materials on the internet.
