My interest in the Thoresby Family comes through my connection with the Neville Family. The traditional history of the Nevilles in the U.S. takes the line back to John Neville who married Bridget Thoresby. Besides the marriage of John Neville to Bridget Thoresby, I have found two other Neville-Thoresby marriages in the late 1500s/early 1600s in England. No doubt there is a connection between these other Nevilles that married Thoresbys but as yet I can go back no further than what is shown here on the Nevilles or the Thoresbys. There is a Thoresby Society, founded by Sir Ralph Thoresby and located in Great Britain today that is a society that is devoted to history and genealogy. Missi Nussbaum, current secretary of the Neville Heritage Society, wrote to the Thoresby Society, but they were unable to assist in finding out anything more about Bridget Thoresby or her forebears. This name is also sometimes spelled as THURSBY.
