I owe all of my knowledge of the early Turners to my cousin, Gail Blancett, who has done much research on this line. Without her genealogical expertise I probably never would have known the parents and grandparents of Sarah (Turner) Littlefield. Other Turner cousins who have helped me on my Turner line are Ann Coleman and Barbara Dunn.
Here is my known TURNER lineage:
I also have another possible Turner line which comes through the HANKS family. My ancestor, Luke HANKS, b. ca. 1685 Richmond Co., VA, d. bef. Feb. 1757 Lancaster Co., VA; md. ca. 1710 Richmond Co., VA to Elizabeth (TURNER?), b. ca. 1695 VA, d. ca. 1750 Richmond Co., VA. No primary sources have been found to show that Elizabeth's maiden name was Turner. However, one of their sons was named TURNER Hanks. It makes sense that he would have been named Turner if his mother's maiden name was Turner. To see my Hanks-Turner lineage go to HANKS/HANKE/HANKINS GENEALOGY compiled by Glenn Gohr.
Another possible TURNER connection is the family of Jeremiah TURNER Reeves in my wife's family. Often men would have the maiden name of their mother as their middle name, so possible his mother was a Turner. To see my wife's connection to Jeremiah Turner Reeves go to REEVES/REAVES GENEALOGY compiled by Glenn Gohr.

Post a query (or information from any one of the above categories) on any TURNER name or related family. Please give dates, and locations they lived. Try to give as much information as possible.
An online genealogy forum for posting queries has also been set up specifically for the TURNER family on GenForum. It can be found at the following address:
***Note***During the Fall of 1998, GenForum combined with Family Tree Maker, which means that all queries and information posted to that site becomes the property of Family Tree Maker. This is still a good site to look up information and get contact names for the TURNER lines you are searching, but be advised that if you now post a new query or a response to something on that site, chances are that sometime in the future Family Tree Maker will include that information on a CD-ROM which they will sell for profit to anyone who is interested. I do not like the idea of someone else using my hard researched information and ideas and selling them for a profit without my knowledge. This same practice is evident on all of the Family Tree Maker pages which are found on the internet, if you will read the disclaimer notices on those pages. I recommend the Family Tree Maker pages as good look up pages, but I don't recommend posting information there. Similar things can be said for Ancestry.com and MyFamily.com which are connected to each other and seek to make a profit from genealogical materials on the internet.
Some other Turner researchers and web sites include:
Jesse M. Lawrence's Family Tree Maker Online InterneTree which has an internet tree with descendants of Manuel Turner, 1814-1850, md. Sintha ___ and also reference to Jesse's mother-in-law, Mamie Lee Turner, 1908-1979. This site is maintained by Jesse M. Lawrence who is also distantly related to me through the Neville and Harris families.
