Born in Burlington County, John Goldy enlisted at the age 20, in the 2nd NJ Continental Line for the duration of the Revolutionary War. John participated in the battles of Short Hills, Brandywine, Monmouth and Springfield. He was present at the surrender of Lord Cornwallis at Yorktown, Virginia. He was discharged at New Windsor, New York in 1783.
Listed on muster rolls December 1777 � March 1778 with George Washington at Valley Forge.
By 1787 John and his family were living in Pemberton. In 1797 John moved his family to Williamsport, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania. He lived there until his death.

On this fifth day of May in the year of out Lord one thousand eight hundred and eighteen, before me this subscriber one of the Judge of the Court of common pleas in and for said county, personally appears John Goldy aged sixty one years resident of Lycoming County ofs. Who being by me first duly sworn according to law doth on his oath make the following declaration in order to obtain the provi�made by the late act of congress entitled �n act to provide for certain persons engaged in the land and naval ---vice of the United States in the revolutionary war that he th----- John Goldy enlisted in the town of Burlington in the sta---- New Jersey in the year 1777 on the 20th day of January in the company commanded by Captain John Hollingshead of the 2nd Jersey Regiment commanded by Colonel Isreal Shreeve in the Jersey line, for during the war and served during the time for which he was enlisted in the said corps for ---------- got a regular discharge at the conclusion of the war, --- State of New York near the town of New Windsor, that was in the battles of Short Hills, or Ash Swamp, Brandywine, Monmouth, Springfield and the taking of Lord Cornwallis at Yorktown in Virginia and that he is in reduced ----- ------- in life and stands in need of the assistance of his county for support and that he has no other evidence now in his ------- ---- of his said services,

Co. F 1st NJ Calvary. He deserted but returned during the 1863 amnesty. He muster roll says he �has a government horse�. According to papers he filled out he married a Mary Mount and listed 3 children, Mary, Thomas, and Charles. He died in Neptune, New Jersey in 1927.
