The Hart Connection

This is my first husband's family. Since he passed away, I have been researching his family history, starting with only a birth certificate, to provide a family heritage for our two children. Many thanks to William L. Smith and Jimmy Rosamond who provided a recent breakthroughs.

Recent research has proven that our Hart line began in Dedham, MA in 1716 with Jacob Hart and Susannah Guild. Several generations lived in the Walpole and Dedham areas until the Revolutionary War. Four Hart brothers served in the War and, afterwards, moved into Maine and New Hampshire. Our line was Seth Hart who moved to Deering, New Hampshire and then Sharon, Vermont. Here our ancestor was buried in the Pine Hill Cemetery along with his wife, children and grandchildren. One son, Royal Hazen Hart moved his family by oxcart to Flushing, Michigan in 1874. In Michigan, we have found our first line of living relatives and written family history. This most recent information will be posted here over a period of time, but please e-mail me in the meantime. Many thanks to the Loop family, who have so generously shared their memories, stories and photos of our Hart family. Thank you also to Bill who took the photos of our family plot in Sharon, Vermont for me. Our family treasures are slowly growing through the kindness of others.
