Steve's mother, Margie Nell Russell, comes from some long standing Upshur County, Texas families. The surnames include: Stanley, Russell, Cox, Wyatt, and Atkinson. These families came to Texas circa 1850 from Alabama, North Carolina and South Carolina. We've just started this branch, so more will come. Last Updated Nov. 27, 2002.

The Cox's and Stanley's met in Arkansas and ended up together in Upshur County. This is a closer look at the Stanley ties with the Cox's.

A detailed lineage of our Stanley's who began as farmers in the early 1800's in Alabama, moved through Arkansas and finally settled in Upshur County, where they served their community by establishing the Lone Pilgrim Primitve Baptist Church which is still in existence today.

The Russell family who migrated to Upshur County, lost a family cemetery to a reservoir built in the 1940's. This survey is the only record we have and the graves that were not moved are now under water.
