Palmer, Town of Corinth, Maine, early gleanings and random collections, (Bangor: Press of B.A. Burr, (Whig and courier job office) 1893), 4, 5, 12, 28, Corinthis 6 mi square, 23040 acres, bounded on North by Charleston, East by Hudson, West by Exeter, South by Levant, is the 186th town in district of Maine, loated as a township in 1792, known as township #2, in the 4th range of townships north of the Waldo patent.Township named "New Ohio" in 1792 by Tibbets and Budge, when they decided to stay there instead of going to Ohio. Kenduskeag stream runs southeasterly thru center of town. Pushaw pond in northern part of town. Early settlers got salmon of good size, at a distance of 17 mi from waters of the Penobscot. Royal Clark was one of the newcomers with Budge & Tibbets. 1811 Jun 21, township 2 was incorporated and became Corinth. Were 197 inhabitants. First town meeting 17 Mar 1812: Jonathan Snow, surveyor of highways, David Gove, assessor. "The town road leading directly west from Corinth Methodist meeting house, after passing farms of J. B. Wheeler and C.B. Bragdon, leads you to the neighborhood known as the Thomas Bean settlement, and you pass farms of R. Folley, A.French, A. Johson, R. Doe, H. Clark, J. Hersom and O. Jaqueth. These are good farms and well cultivated."

Aug. 1778, the French fleet sent to operate against the British in Rhode Island. NH men volunteered and joined the Continental Army in RI. 1778, Jan 3, change of a town line placed William in Salem, NH; he signed a petition to be reunited with Windham which was turned down. In 1798, Windham voted in all future taxes to omit those living in Salem.The people of Scotch descent in Salem were entirely separated in religious and town affairs from their Presbyterian relatives in Windham. Eaton, Cyrus, Annals of the Town of Warren in Knox County, Maine w/ early history of Broad Bay, St. George's and the neighboring settlements of the Waldo Patent, (Masters and Livermore, Hallowell. 1877), 521, came from Ireland about 1740. Fought with the German settlers who came in 1741 to Broad Bay. Tired of the unequal contests, he relinquished his possessions to Waldo and removed to George's river. Took his two lots in the upper town, along with two back lots he could select were deemed an equivalent for his possessions at Broad Bay. p.69. 1747, Ft. Frederick, Indians attacking. Cooper along with Reuben Pitcher, going down the reiver for rock-weed, were taken prisoner by the Indians and French, and carried off to Canada. Boice, continuing his usual contented and jovial manner, and accommodating himself to the Indian humor, readily answering their questions respecting the cattle, number of men at the fort, and other matters received good usage. While in prison in Canada, a fellow prisoner died, and bequeathed him his violin. His skill on the violin soon made him known to the governor, at whose house he was well entertained, till, on an exchange of prisoners, he was freed and returned.* p.77-78. *Mrs. Montgomery, J. Huse, &c. Returned to Ireland, sold an inheritance there, and brought back a number of men and women, who signed an obligation to work for him severn years in payment of their passage. Among them was Lawrence Parsons. Parsons was patronized by Cooper, married at his house, and rec'd from him the farm at Broad Cove in Cushing. Parsons went onto farm in 1750. Cooper brought up one of his daughters, who was married to Joseph Skinner of this town.* *Mrs. Montgomery , daughter of Cooper L. Parsons, 1st and other. p.69-70 1758, British put forth all their energy in the war; several expeditions planned. Boice Cooper, corporal, was on the muster roll of Capt. Alex. Nickels' company at Ft Frederick, from Aug 14, 1758 to Sep 30, 1759, p.115. A list of settlers in St. George's river, Medumcook, and Broad Bay lists Boice Cooper along with John North in St. George's Upper Town. Supposedly written by Capt. John North.

This site became the first cemetery. An acre of land laid out. Kyles buried there. 1835, Mar 11- Alexander Gordon, one selectman, concerning the new cemetery to be laid out.
