I have been experimenting with getting images from a Fiche
reader direct to my PC.
Solution 1)
Take lid of flatbed scanner.
Turn scanner vertical, and make support/bracket so scanner is directly
against Fiche Reader Screen.
Set scanner software to reflective, and scan away.
Works great, but keeping the fiche in focus is tricky. - This can be
improved by making a swivel bracket, so the
flat bed swings away from the screen, allowing you to focus on the fiche.
Solution 2)
Fix Digital Camera - Minimum 2.1 megapixel to tripod.
Set zoom of camera to limits of Fiche reader screen.
Take some photos.
Works great also, and slightly better than 1) as you can easily keep the
fiche in focus.
New solution ... this works fantastically.
Solution 3)
Remove front opaque screen from fiche reader.
Turn Fiche Reader around so image is projected onto a Cine projector Screen.
Reverse Fiche in reader if writing is back to front
(you may need to adjust tilt of Fiche Reader)
(you may also need to dim the lights)
adjust focus, and there you go a lovely large image of your fiche, mine is
currently set to approx 3 x 2 feet then set up your digital camera as before and take photos as needed.
This is the best way to do it. Very easy to read the large writing
Of course once you have the images scanned, or photographed you can then
perform further image manipulation on your pc, to make those hard to read
fiche a bit easier on the eyes !. And don't forget you can now print out
those fiche entries to your hearts content. |
