Michael Whitmire, Jr.(W7/1.2), son of Michael Whitmire (W8/1.1) and Cathene Whitmire, was born February 8, 1765, according to his tombstone in the Daucusville, South Carolina cemetery.  He was probably born in South Carolina.  He was married about 1786, wife's name Nancy, according to the research of Haskell Pruett.

He was enumerated in the 1790 census of Pendleton County, District 96, page 83 as the head of a household composed of "two males over 16, one male under 16 and three females" in an adjacent location to his father.

"Michael Whitmer," believed to be (W7/1.2) received a deed to 213 acres for œ70 January 24, 1792 from Stephen Fuller, according to Pendleton District Deed Book B, page 15.  Fuller had received the land located on the south side of the Saluda River in a grant dated September 4, 1786.  On October 13, 1794 he purchased 147 acres "west of the old boundary" for œ10, 11 shillings, according to Pendleton District Deed Book G, page 438.

He was mentioned in the will of his father written in 1795, and he assisted in the inventory of his father's estate in Pendleton District March 24, 1797.

He appeared as the head of Household 296 in the 1800 census of Pendleton District:

        "Whitmire, Michael      white male      26-45

                                white female    26-45

                                white female    10-16

                                white male       0-10

                                white male       0-10

                                white female     0-10

                                white female     0-10"

He reappeared in the 1810 census of Pendleton District, page 143. The household was reported as:

"Whitmire, Michael, Jr. white male      over 45

                                white female    over 45

                                white female    16-26

                                white female    16-26

                                white male      10-16

                                white male      10-16

                                white male       0-10"

Michael Whitmire, Jr. (W7/1.2) died July 1, 1819, according to the research of Lynda Dorene Whitmire Wright (W1/3.3), however a Michael Whitmire, possibly (W7/1.2), reappeared in the 1820 census of Pendleton District as the head of a household composed of:

"Whitmire, Michael       white male      over 45

                                white female    over 45"

He died before May 28, 1821 and was buried in the Whitmire family cemetery near Pumpkintown on the Saluda River.  Children born to Michael Whitmire, Jr. (W7/1.2) and Nancy Whitmire include:

Catherina Whitmire      (W6/2.1)        born about 1788

Jeremiah Whitmire       (W6/2.2)        born about 1794

Elizabeth Whitmire      (W6/2.3)        born about 1795

Rebecca Whitmire        (W6/2.4)        born about 1797

Michael Whitmire III    (W6/2.5)        born June 27, 1798

        Martin Whitmire         (W6/2.6)        born August 16, 1801

Catherina Whitmire (W6/2.1), daughter of Michael Whitmire Jr. (W7/1.2) and Nancy Whitmire, was born about 1788, probably in Pendleton District.  She was apparently the "white female, 10-16" who appeared in her father's household in the 1800 census.  She was married about 1806 to Rev. Allen Robinson (R6/1.1).  He conveyed land on the South Saluda River near Carpenter's Creek adjoining that of Martin Whitmire (W6/2.6) August 30, 1838 to his son Randolph Robinson (R5/1.2).  He died March 28, 1854.

Thirteen children were born to them, including:

Anna Robinson           (R5/1.1)        born about 1816

Randolph Robinson       (R5/1.2)        born about 1817

Anna Robinson (R5/1.1), daughter of Rev. Allen Robinson (R6/1.1) and Catherina Whitmire Robinson (W6/2.1), was born about 1816 in Pendleton District.  She was married about 1834 to Jeremiah Whitmire [unidentified].  She was mentioned in the will of her father which was probated in Pickens County April 7, 1855.  They were received June 9, 1860 by letter at Ebenezer Baptist Church at Traveler's Rest, South Carolina.  She died April 3, 1861, according to the church minutes.  Children born to Jeremiah Whitmire and Anna Robinson Whitmire (R5/1.1) are unknown.

Jeremiah Whitmire (W6/2.2), son of Michael Whitmire Jr. (W7/1.2) and Nancy Whitmire, was born about 1794, probably in Pendleton District.  He was enumerated as the head of a household in the 1820 census of Pendleton District, page 86.

The family was rendered as:

        "Whitmire, Jeremiah     white male      16-26

                                white female    26-45

                                white male       0-10

                                one slave"

He sold 45 acres of land "on the Saluda" to his brother Michael Whitmire III (W6/2.5) in 1840, according to Pickens County Deed Book D-1, page 336.  He sold an additional 86 acres to R. G. Whitmire (unidentified) in 1842, according to Pickens County Deed Book D-1, page 584.  In the same year he sold 30 acres to Odom Cox, according to Pickens County Deed Book D-1, page 584.

"J. M. Whitmire," perhaps (W6/2.2), was a witness to the will of Michael Whitmire III (W6/2.5) April 16, 1870 in Greenville County.

Elizabeth Whitmire (W6/2.3), daughter of Michael Whitmire Jr. (W7/1.2) and Nancy Whitmire, was born about 1795, probably in Pendleton District.  She was married about 1814, husband's name Findlay.

Rebecca Whitmire (W6/2.4), daughter of Michael Whitmire Jr. (W7/1.2) and Nancy Whitmire, was born about 1797, probably in Pendleton District.  She was married about 1817, husband's name Finlay.

Michael Whitmire III (W6/2.5), son of Michael Whitmire Jr. (W7/1.2) and Nancy Whitmire, was born June 27, 1798, probably in Pendleton District.  He was married about 1820 to Mary Finlay (F6/1.2) who was born May 3, 1804, according to Lynda Dorene Whitmire Wright (W1/3.3), a descendant.  Mary Finlay (F6/1.2) was possibly a sister to the husband of Rebecca Whitmire (W6/2.4).

Michael Whitmire III (W6/2.5) was enumerated as the head of a household in the 1820 census of Pendleton District, page 86, listed as:

        "Whitmire, Michael      white male      18-26

                                white female    26-45

                                one slave"

Located nearby were the households of "Christopher Whitmire [(W7/1.6)], Samuel Whitmire [(W7/1.5)], Jeremiah Whitmire [(W6/2.2)] and [a second] Christopher Whitmire [unidentified]."

Michael Whitmire III (W6/2.5) sold 100 acres of land that he had inherited to his brother Martin Whitmire (W6/2.6) May 28, 1821.  The land was located on the South Fork of Saluda River and adjoined the land of R. M. Earles, John Hunt and Martin Whitmire (W6/2.6), according to Pendleton District (Pickens County) deed records.

In 1842 he sold to H. Cleveland Hunt 230 acres on the Saluda River, according to Pickens County deed records.  In the same year he sold 26 acres on Crooked Creek to James McAdam.

He appeared as the head of a household in 1850 census of Greenville County, South Carolina.  He was shown as a farmer with $2,500 in real estate.  Mary Finlay Whitmire (F6/1.2) died August 3, 1869, and he was remarried a few months later to Martha Langford (L6/1.1) who was born in 1803.  Haskell Pruett shows her year of birth as 1814.

He wrote his will April 16, 1870:

"I, Michael Whitmire, of the County of Greenville, State of South Carolina, being of a sound mind and disposing memory and understanding do make this my last will and testament in the manner and form following:

In the presence of                              Michael Whitmire

  J. M. Whitmire

He died October 16, 1871, and Martha Langford Whitmire (L6/1.1) died in January 1891.  Shortly after her death Louisa Whitmire Hester (W6/1.1) filed suit in Greenville County for partition of the estate:
