Samuel Whitmire (W7/1.5), son of Michael Whitmire (W8/1.1) and Catherine Whitmire, was born about 1770 in Pendleton District.  He was married about 1793 to Polly Holcomb (H7/1.1).  [Haskell Pruett states in "The Families of the Sons of Christopher Columbus Whitmire" that Samuel Whitmire (W7/1.5) was married to Fannie I Dean (D7/1.1) and that they were the parents of Samuel McDonald Whitmire (W6/5.1).]  He appeared as the head of Household 770 in the 1800 census of that district:

He was a witness February 12, 1801 to a deed of Stephen Whitmire (W7/1.1) and Mary Porter Whitmire (P7/1.1) that conveyed 204 1/2 acres in two plots to William Robbins, according to Pendleton District Deed Book H, page 508.  The property was located on the "north fork of Cain Creek of the Keowee" and adjoined the property of Samuel Whitmire (W7/1.5).

 

On August 25, 1802 he witnessed a deed of Stephen Whitmire (W7/1.1) which conveyed 158 acres "on the North fork of the Keowee" to their brother Christoher Whitmire (W7/1.6),  according to Oconee County Deed Book 9, pge 672.

 

Samuel Whitmire (W7/1.5) reappeared as the head of a household in the 1820 census of Pendleton District, page 86.

 

The family was reported as:

He apparently removed from Jackson County in 1840.  He was enumerated there in the 1840 census and also in Pickens County, South Carolina.  He appeared as the head of a household in the 1850 census of Rabun County, Georgia.

 

Fourteen children were born to Samuel Whitmire (W7/1.5) and Polly Holcomb Whitmire (H7/1.1) beteen 1794 and 1822.  Included were:

Christopher Whitmire (W6/5.1), son of Samuel Whitmire (W7/1.5) and Polly Holcomb Whitmire (H7/1.1), was born in 1796.  He was married about 1816 to Nancy Reece (R6/1.1).

 

A Christopher Whitmire, possibly (W6/5.1), received a deed to 300 acres in Pendleton District in 1817.  The deed read:

 

"KNOW ALL MEN BY THESE PRESENTS THAT I, John Prince, Junr. in the State and Dist. aforesaid in consideration of the just sum of Two Hundred dollars to me paid by Chistopher Whitmire of Pendleton Dist. have granted, bargained, sold and released unto the said Whitmire all that tract of land lying and being in said State on the waters of Toona River, beginning . . . containing 300 acres more or less.

 

Signed, sealed and delivered the 21st day of April 1817.

Christopher Whitmire (W6/5.1), was an early settler in Forsyth County, Georgia which was established in 1832 from Cherokee County, according to "They were here."

 

He was enumerated as the head of a household in the 1850 census of Forsyth County, 31st District, page 229:

 

        "Whitmire, Christopher         53, born in South Carolina

                   Nancy               53, born in South Carolina

                   Emily               13, born in Georgia

                   William R.          11, born in Georgia"

 

Children born to Christopher Whitmire (W6/5.1) and Nancy Reece Whitmire (R6/1.1) include:

Eliza A. Whitmire (W5/1.1), daughter of Christopher Whitmire (W6/5.1) and Nancy

Reece Whitmire (R6/1.1), was born May 21, 1826, according to "The Wallis-Wallace Family of Forsyth County, Georgia" written by Joy L. Clark of Cumming, Georgia.  She was married about 1843 to Jesse Wallise (W5/1.5), fifth child of William Wallis (W6/1.1) and Anna Wallis.  The Wallis family was enumerated in the 1830 and 1840 census enumerations of Forsyth County.  They were members of the Hopewell Methodist Church there.  Jesse Wallise (W5/1.5), who became a drygoods merchants, was born March 5, 1826.  He died April 13, 1896, and she died May 6, 1908.  They were buried in Hopewell Methodist Church Cemetery.

William Christopher Wallise (W4/5.1), son of Jesse Wallise (W5/1.5) and Eliza A. Whitmire Wallise (W5/1.1), was born about 1844.  He died unmarried May 16, 1863 at Baker's Creek, Mississippi, a Confederate casualty.

 

John Wallise (W4/5.2), son of Jesse Wallise (W5/1.5) and Eliza A. Whitmire Wallise (W5/1.1), was born in November 1845 in Forsyth County.  He was married there December 25, 1864 to Minerva Martin (M4/1.1).  He died January 25, 1893 and was buried in Rocky Creek Cemetery, Walker County, Georgia.  Nine children were born to them, according to Clark research.

 

Melinda Jane Wallise (W4/5.3), daughter of Jesse Wallise (W5/1.5) and Eliza A. Whitmire Wallise (W5/1.1), was born August 11, 1848 in Forsyth County.  She was married about 1866 to Lester Stripling (L4/1.1).  She died in 1901 and was buried in Alta Vista Cemetery in adjoining Hall County.

 

George Lewis "Buck" Wallise (W4/5.4), son of Jesse Wallise (W5/1.5) and Eliza A. Whitmire Wallise (W5/1.1), was born February 20, 1850 in Forsyth County.  He was married December 17, 1872 in Dawson County, Georgia to Margaret Elliott Maylock (M4/1.1).  In 1880 they were enumerated in the Coal Mountain District of Forsyth County with five children.  He died February 23, 1921 in Aledo, Texas, according to Clark research.

 

David Reeves Wallis (W4/5.5), son of Jesse Wallise (W5/1.5) and Eliza A. Whitmire Wallis (W5/1.1), was born September 17, 1853 in Forsyth County.

He was married about 1870 to Martha Anmn Turner (T4/1.1), daughter of Lemuel West Turner (T5/1.1) and Susannah A. "Susie" Hubbard Turner (H5/1.1) who was born April 10, 1948.

 

He died November 30, 1920, and she died December 25, 1928.  They were buried in Crossroads Baptist Church.

Leila Octavia Wallis (W3/5.2), daughter of David Reeves Wallis (W4/5.5) and Martha Ann Turner Wallis (T3/1.1), was born July 17, 1873.  She was married September 22, 1891 in Dawson County to Benjamin Martin Anderson (A3/1.1).  He died in 1954, and she died December 25, 1955.  They were buried in Concord Baptist Church Cemetery in Forsyth County.

Florence Clark (C3/1.1), daughter of Minor Clinton Clark (C3/1.1) and Nancy E. Hope Clark (H3/1.1), accordijng to Clark research.  She was born June 1, 1872 in Dawson County and died April 27, 1955.  He died October 2, 1956.  They were buried in Salem Baptist Church Cemetery, Forsyth County.

Eula Maggie Wallis (W3/5.4), daughter of David Reeves Wallis (W4/5.5) and Martha Ann Turner Wallis (T3/1.1), was born May 18, 1876.  She was married January 21, 1894 to Alvin Andrew Clark (C2/1.1) who was born September 25, 1871 in Dawson County.  She died May 30, 1953 and was buried in Pleasant View Baptist Church Cemetery in Forsyth County.  He died July 31, 1962 and was buried beside his wife.

Charles Monroe Wallis (W3/5.5), son of David Reeves Wallis (W4/5.5) and Martha Ann Turner Wallis (T3/1.1), was born December 15, 1877.  He was married July 25, 1897 in Dawson County to Margaret "Maggie" Howard (H3/1.1), daughter of Abram Howard (H4/1.1) and Sarah Stancil Howard (S4/1.1).  She was born February 10, 1877.  He died January 26, 1939, and she died March 26, 1958.  They were buried in Concord Baptist Church Cemetery.

Claude Wallace (W3/5.9), son of David Reeves Wallis (W4/5.5) and Martha Ann Turner Wallis (T3/1.1), was born November 27, 1884.  He died unmarried November 31, 1964 and was buried in Oak Grove Baptist Church Cemetery in Forsyth County.

 

Jesse E. Wallis (W3/5.10), son of David Reeves Wallis (W4/5.5) and Martha Ann Turner Wallis (T3/1.1), was born September 15, 1885 and died December 9, 1885.  He was buried in Crossroad Baptist Church Cemetery.

 

Flora "Flo" Wallis (W3/5.11), daughter of David Reeves Wallis (W4/5.5) and Martha Ann Turner Wallis (T3/1.1), was born in October 1886.  She was married August 18, 1907 to Joseph Elliott (E3/1.1).  She was buried at Westview Cemetery.

William Lee Wallace (W3/5.12), son of David Reeves Wallis (W4/5.5) and Martha Ann Turner Wallis (T3/1.1), was born November 7, 1888.  He was married December 11, 1911 to Ollie Pirkle (P3/1.1), daughter of Benjamin Franklin Pirkle (P4/1.1) and Ruth "Sissy" Bannister Pirkle (B4/1.1).  She was born December 4, 1895.  She died August 20, 1933, and he died September 26, 1937.  They were buried at Concord Baptist Church Cemetery.

Gardie E. Wallis (W3/5.13), son of David Reeves Wallis (W4/5.5) and Martha Ann Turner Wallis (T3/1.1), was born May 3, 1891.  He died February 8, 1892 and was buried in Crossroads Baptist Church Cemetery.

 

Henry David "Dave" Wallace (W3/5.14), son of David Reeves Wallis (W4/5.5) and Martha Ann Turner Wallis (T3/1.1), was born January 29, 1892.  He died unmarried September 2, 1951 and was buried in Oak Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.

 

Ezra Clinton Wallace (W3/5.15), son of David Reeves Wallis (W4/5.5) and Martha Ann Turner Wallis (T3/1.1), was born November 12, 1894.  He was married about 1914 to Altie Mahulda Corn (C3/1.1), daughter of Luther Corn (C4/1.1) and Carolina Grogan Corn (G4/1.1).  She was born July 22, 1897.  He died March 21, 1960, and she died December 17, 1973.  They were buried in Oak Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.

Sarah "Carrie" Wallise (W4/5.6), daughter of Jesse Wallise (W5/1.5) and Eliza A. Whitmire Wallise (W5/1.1), was born August 9, 1859 in Forsyth County.  She was married there January 31, 1878 to Monroe Bennett (B4/1.1), son of Berry Bennett (B5/1.1) and Emilie A. Martin Bennett (M5/1.1).  She died in 1943 and was buried in Cross Roads Baptist Church Cemetery.  Four children were born to them.

 

Martha Evaline "Eva" Wallise (W4/5.7), daughter of Jesse Wallise (W5/1.5) and Eliza A. Whitmire Wallise (W5/1.1), was born March 31, 1861 in Forsyth County.  She was married there February 22, 1877 to Henry A. Dooley (D4/1.1), son of Wesley S. Dooley (D5/1.1) and Cleopatra Missouri Catheirne Phillips Dooley (P5/1.1).  She died there April 18, 1892 and was buried in Concord Baptist Church Cemetery.  After her death Henry A. Dooley (D4/1.1) and the children removed to Bartow County, Georgia to be near his aging parents.   He died November 3, 1937 and was buried in Gums Springs Cemetery.

 

Jesse Harrison Wallace (W4/5.8), son of Jesse Wallise (W5/1.50 and Eliza A. Whitmire Wallise (W5/1.1), was born March 1, 1863 in Forsyth County.  He was married there July 31, 1884 to Isabell Hughes (H4/1.1).  He died April 16, 1907 in Aledo, Texas.

 

Nancy Ann "Nan" Wallise (W4/5.9), daughter of Jesse Wallise (W5/1.5) and Eliza A. Whitmire Wallise (W5/1.1), was born May 1, 1868 in Forsyth County.  She was married there February 8, 1881 to James Andrew Jackson (J4/1.1).  She died March 7, 1950 in Hall County.

 

Emily Whitmire (W5/1.2), daughter of Christopher Whitmire (W6/5.1) and Nancy Reece Whitmire (R6/1.1), was born about 1837 in Georgia.  She appeared as a 13-year-old in the 1850 census of Forsyth County.  She was married about 1860 to James H. Henderson (H5/1.1), according to Forsyth County marriage records.

 

William R. Whitmire (W5/1.3), son of Christopher Whitmire (W6/5.1) and Nancy Reece Whitmire (R6/1.1), was born about 1839.  He appeared in the 1850 cenus of Forsyth County as a 13-year-old living in his father's household.  Of this individual nothing more is known.

 

Cintha Whitmire (W6/5.2), daughter of Samuel Whitmire (W7/1.5) and Polly Holcomb Whitmire (H7/1.1), was born about 1795.

 

Alpha Whitmire (W6/5.3), son of Samuel Whitmire (W7/1.5) and Polly Holcomb Whitmire (H7/1.1), was born about 1797.  "A. P. Whitmire," possibly (W6/5.3), was enumerated in the 1850 census of Forsyth County as the head of Household 1263-1263, 31st District, page 196:

 

        "Whitmire, A. P.        45, born in North Carolina

                   Elizabeth    50, born in South Carolina"

 

Stephen Whitmire (W6/5.4), son of Samuel Whitmire (W7/1.5) and Polly Holcomb Whitmire (H7/1.1), was born August 25, 1799 in Pendleton District.  He was married about 1820 to Mary Robertson (R6/1.1) who was born in 1802 in Oconee County.

 

He appeared as the head of a household in the 1840 census of Rabun County, Georgia, and he was enumerated September 26, 1850 as the head of a household in Rabun County, 597th District, Houshold 160-160:

 

        "Whitmire, Stephen          52, born in South Carolina

                   Mary             48, born in South Carolina, wife

                   Robert[son?] R.  19, born in South Carolina, son, married

                                        within the year

                   Mary L. F.       14, born in South Carolina, daughter, at-

                                        tending school"

 

They reappeared as Household 26-26 at Clayton, Georgia in the 1860 census of Rabun County, 597th District:

 

        "Whitmire, Stephen      68, born in South Carolina

                   Mary         58, born in South Carolina, wife"

 

He wrote his will in Rabun County in 1866.

 

Following her death about 1862 he was remarried to Patsy Mary Cobb (C6/1.1) who was born February 18, 1802 in South Carolina.  They lived in Oconee County, South Carolina.  He was buried in Clayton, Georgia Baptist Church Cemetery.  No children were born to Patsy Mary Cobb Whitmire (C6/1.1) who was born in 1802.

William R[obertson?] "Billy" Whitmire (W5/4.1), son of Stephen Whitmire (W6/5.4) and Mary Robertson Whitmire (R6/1.1), was born October 30, 1822 in South Carolina, probably in Oconee County.  He moved to Rabun County, Georgia and built a log cabin on his land one mile north of Clayton.   He was married in 1845 to Hannah McCurry (M5/1.1) who was born December 23, 1827 in North Carolina to Amos McCurry (M6/1.1) and Rachel McCurry.  Hannah McCurry Whitmire (M5/1.1) died July 27, 1898, and William R. "Billy" Whitmire (W5/4.1) died February 5, 1904 in Clayton, Georgia.  They were buried in the Baptist Church Cemetery there.

Sarah Whitmire (W4/1.1), daughter of William R. "Billy" Whitmire (W5/4.1) and Hannah McCurry Whitmire (M5/1.1), was born May 27, 1845 at Clayton, Georgia.  She was married in 1863 to John M. Burton (B4/1.1), son of Jeremiah Burton (B5/1.1), who was born in 1845.  He died February 13, 1922, and she died May 30, 1924.  They were buried in Bethlehem Baptist Church Cemetery.

 

John Columbus Whitmire (W4/1.2), son of William R. "Billy" Whitmire (W5/4.1) and Hannah McCurry Whitmire (M5/1.1), was born January 26, 1847 in Clayton.  He removed to Macon County, South Carolina where he was married August 1, 1867 to Jane Elizabeth Williams (W4/1.1) who was born there July 26, 1849.  They returned to Rabun County, Georgia in 1884.  She died there December 17, 1922, and he died in Walhalla, South Carolina August 6, 1929.

        Hannah Elizabeth Whitmire (W3/2.9)      born January 18, 1886

        Steven Alexander Whitmire (W3/2.10)     born December 19, 1890

 

Sylvester "Ves" Whitmire (W3/2.1), son of John Columbus Whitmire (W4/1.2) and Jane Elizabeth Williams Whitmire (W4/1.1), was born July 5, 1870 in Rabun County.  He was married February 21, 1895 to Delia Thompson (T3/1.1) and was remarried to Mary Pitts (P3/1.1).  He was killed by a bootlegger whom he surprised transporting whiskey in Rabun County.  Children born to Sylvester "Ves" Whitmire (W3/1.9), Delia Thompson Whitmire (T3/1.1) and Mary Pitts Whitmire (P3/1.1) are unknown.

 

Jacob B. Whitmire (W3/2.2), son of John Columbus Whitmire (W4/1.2) and Jane Elizabeth Williams Whitmire (W4/1.1), was born November 3, 1871 in Macon County.  He was married to Jane Garland (G3/1.2) of North Carolina about 1905.  Children born to Jacob B. Whitmire (W3/2.2) and Jane Garland Whitmire (G3/1.2) are unknown.

 

Lewis C. Whitmire (W3/2.3), son of John Columbus Whitmire (W4/1.2) and Jane Elizabeth Williams Whitmire (W4/1.1), was born August 19, 1873 in Macon County.  He was married about 1895 to Mary Page (P3/1.1).  Later he was remarried to Minnie Wells (W3/1.1) of Cornelia, Georgia.  Children born to Lewis C. Whitmire (W3/2.3), Mary Page Whitmire (P3/1.1) and Minnie Wells Whitmire (W3/1.1) are unknown.

 

Lydia Whitmire (W3/2.4), daughter of John Columbus Whitmire (W4/1.2) and Jane Elizabeth Williams Whitmire (W4/1.1), was born March 12, 1876 in Macon County.  She was married to Jonas Burrell (B3/1.1) of Towns County, Georgia March 1, 1896.  She died October 25, 1965.

 

Pollie E. Whitmire (W3/2.5), daughter of John Columbus Whitmire (W4/1.2) and Jane Elizabeth Williams Whitmire (W4/1.1), was born April 1, 1878 in Macon County.  She was married February 18, 1897 to John M. Carter (C3/1.1) and lived in Orlando, Florida. She died August 2, 1941.  A descendant, J. Harold Cart
