Welcome to my website. It contains the result of several years of pouring over old records and traipsing around the rural Mississippi countryside looking for dead relatives.  I found a great many of them, along with some who are very much alive but would have otherwise remained unknown to me.  I could not have put all of this together without the help of many newfound cousins and friends, and I take this opportunity to thank everyone who has so generously given of their time and effort to help me with my research.

I am always looking for old photographs.  Now I am particularly interested in finding photographs of the Lamberts, Thompsons, Walters, and Blounts, the Rayborns, the Cooleys, the Phillipses and the Bazors, the Atwoods and the DuPriests.  These families are part of my own family tree and we have very few photographs of any of them.  If you have some that you are willing to share please let me know!

My grandmother, Mary Louise Atwood Rayborn, inspired me to learn html and build this website in an effort to learn about the first fifteen months of her life.  She was born on June 7 or 8, 1916, possibly in Forrest County, Mississippi, and her name might have been Hazel Louise Edwards    She became Mary Louise Atwood on August 21, 1917 when she was "given" to Mr. and Mrs. James Henry Atwood by Mrs. Betty Green of the Mississippi Children's Home Society and Mrs. Archie Fairley of the Hattiesburg chapter of the King's Daughters.

Mamaw passed away on June 13, 2003 without learning any of the answers to any of the questions she had been asking for more than forty years.

Mary Louise Atwood Rayborn was 87 years old at the time of her death, the mother of six children, grandmother of thirteen grandchildren, nineteen great grandchildren, and two great great grandchildren.  We are no closer now to solving the mystery of her past than when she started her search way back in the early 1960s.  Please take a minute now to visit Mamaw's Page and read the story she called "Little Girl Lost".   If have any information that might help, please contact me.

God blessed me by giving me loving grandparents who were a daily part of my life from my birth through my childhood, marriage, and the births of my own children.  Mamaw and Papaw Phillips and Mamaw and Papaw Rayborn are gone now, but I believe they're all keeping watchful eyes on their children and grandchildren.  Our memories of them are still very much a part of our daily lives.  This website is lovingly dedicated to them,  with the knowledge that are watching and that I will see them again someday.
