Notes for using the Everyname Index

The index is in text format and does not contain hypertext links. It is arranged in four columns:

1. Name (women are listed by maiden name only)
2. File name - this is the abbreviation which appears in parentheses in the regional index (e.g. in the US the file name is the postal abbreviation for the state followed by the first six letters of the county name)
3. Date of birth if mentioned in profile
4. Date of death if mentioned in profile
