Obituary:
William R. McDowell Died at Son's Home, Monday, August 7
- William Raleigh McDowel l, son of John Bluford and
Martha McDowell was born January 27, 1872, at Kaiser, MO.
He departed this life August 7, at the home of his son
Otto of near Osage Beach. At the time of hi s death,
he was 78 years, 6 months and 10 days old.
At the age of 14 he united with the New Hope Baptist
Church. In 1889 he married Delia Hancock and to
this union three children were born. One died in
infancy. A son, Eugene, and a dau ghter, Ada Eubank,
survive him.
In October of 1897, he was united in marriage to
Eva Lou Scott and to this union thirteen children
were born, two of whom preceded him in death, one
an infant daughter and Mrs. Esther Cross, who died
in 1918. The surviving children are: Mrs. Rocena
George, Iberia, Setta Morris on, Lees Summit, MO;
Eva Woolery and Desta Davis of Kansas City; Charley
and William Jr., Kaiser; Gordon and Otto of
Osage Beach; Elish of Montreal; Kenneth of Flippin Ark.;
and Maude McDowell, of the home. Also surviving is
one brother, George McDowell of Kaiser; three
brothers and four sisters have preceded him in death.
Surviving are also 30 grandchildren and four great
grandchildren, besides a host of other relatives
and friends.
When he was 17, he homesteaded a farm near Osage Beach
and lived the remainder of his life i n this community.
Services were conducted by the Rev. Henry Long of
Springfield at the New Hope Baptist Church at Kaiser,
August 8 at 2pm. Burial was in the New Hope Cemetery
unde r the direction of the Adams Funeral
home of Iberia, MO.

Obituary:
Mrs. Eva Mc Dowell Childress passed away March 30, 1957
at the home of a daughter , Mrs. A. W. George, Iberia, MO.,
at the age of 75 years 6 months, and 28 days. She was a
daughter of the late Simon and Elizabeth Scott, Buckner,
Missouri. She joined the Baptist Church at Zion at an
early age and was reared in that community. She later
moved her membership to New Hope. She was married to
William Mc Dowell in October, 1897. Thirteen children
were born to this union, two of which preceded her in death.
She is survived by five daughters: Mrs. A. W. George,
Iberia, MO, Maude Mc Dowell, Osage Beach, MO, Desta Davis,
Flippin, AR, Settie Mc Dowell, and Eva Le June, Burbank CA;
six sons: E lisha Mc Dowell, Osage Beach, MO, Kenneth Mc Dowell,
Flippin, AR, Charley McDowell, William Mc Dowell, Gordon
Mc Dowell and Otto Mc Dowell, all of Kaiser, Missouri; two
sisters, Mrs. Alt a Toler and Mrs. Hattie McLaughlin, both
of Buckner, Missouri; one brother - Charley Scott of
Buckner, MO, twenty six grandchildren and eleven great
grandchildren.
Funeral services were conducted from the New Hope Baptist
Church near Kaiser, Missouri, Monday afternoon at 2pm.
Rev. W. A. Long officiated at the services. Interment
was made in the New Hope Cemetery.
