Aunt Alta and Uncle Dewey had no children.
They were wonderful people and all the cousins wanted
to be around them each time they would visit.

Alta Ellen Toler, 90 of Buckner, Mo. died
Tuesday, Nov. 25, 1986,
at the City Hospital in Excelsior Springs, MO.
She was born June 28, 1896 at Linn Creek,
the youngest daughter of Simon and Elizabeth
Gallion Scott.
She married April 10, 1926 to Dewey O. Toler
who preceded her in death May 19, 1976,
They moved from Barnett in April 1976.Survivors
include nieces and nephews, the children of
Hattie McLauglin, Eva McDowell, and Charley
and Harry Scott.
The family had lived in the Linn Creek area for
many years before the dam was built.
Funeral services took place at 1 p.m. Friday,
Nov 28, at the Barnett Assembly of God Church
with the Rev. Jim Resa officiating.
Pallbearers for the service were
Paul Chapman, Ralph Branstetter, Ray Cox,
Vick Keith, Wes Willis, Roy Joiner and Chester Wasmer.
Interment was under the direction of the Carson
Funeral Home of Independence Mo
Memorials can be made to the church or the
Greenmore Cemetery.

COL. LEE ROY TOLER, age 93, of Independence, MO,
passed away Thursday, November 22, 2001, at Regency
Care Center in Independence. Funeral services
will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, November 27, at D.W.
Newcomer's Sons Noland Road Chapel with burial in
Mt. Washington Cemetery. Visitation will be from
6-8 p.m. Monday, at the chapel. In lieu of flowers,
the family requests that
donations be made in Col. Toler's name to
Crossroads Hospice, 7611 State Line Road, Suite #210,
Kansas City, MO 64114 or Fairmount United Methodist
Church, 2119 Holke Road, Independence, MO 64057.
Mr. Toler was born in Linn
Creek, MO on June 4, 1908, to Green Berry and
Elva Jane (Patterson) Toler and moved to Jackson
County in 1919. In 1973 he retired after 231/2 years at
Bendix Aviation and was a 50-year veteran of the
International Association
of Machinists and Aerospace Workers AFL-CIO.
He was well known as an auctioneer throughout
the area. He graduated from the Missouri Auction
School in 1955 and was a member of the Missouri
Auctioneers Association.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Betty Briggs
of Benton City, WA. He is survived by his wife,
Hazel and his children, Donald Toler of Leesburg, GA,
Ethel Bryant of Independence, MO and
Ray Toler of Chicago, IL; 19 grandchildren;
39 great-grandchildren;
and 13 great-great-grandchildren.
