Malcolm Charles McDowell

Malcolm Charles McDowell, 70, son of
Charles Arthur and Louise Ellen McDowell,
was born April 23, 1917 at Zebra and
died Aug. 19, 1987 at the
Harry S. Truman Veterans Hospital in Columbia.

On Oct.21, 1939 he was united in marriage to Minnie P.
Ahart and to this union eight children were born,
one son Winston passed away in 1984.

Mr. McDowell was a stone mason and lived
most of his life in Miller and
Camden counties. He was a member of the Riveview
Baptist Church at Osage Beach. He served overseas in
the US Navy during World War II.

Surviving relatives are his wife, Minnie McDowell;
four sons, Ronald McDowell and Willard McDowell of
Brumley, Vincent McDowell of Iberia,
and Myron McDowell of Tuscumbia, three daughters,
Marilyn Myers of Ulman, Joyce Mann of Camdenton and
Karen Cooper of Eldon; two brothers,
Delmar McDowell of Camdenton and Gayle McDowell of
Seattle, Wash.; three sisters,
Beulah Bowlin of Sanger, Calif., Louise Mawyer and
Vera Rainwater of Linn Creek; 23 grandchildren and two
great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Saturday, Aug.22, at the
Chapel of the Hedges
Funeral Home in Osage Beach, with�the Rev. J. R. McGuire
officiating.
Burial was in the New Hope Cemetery at Kaiser. Pallbearers were nephews.
Service. were unter the direction of the Hedges Funeral Home of Osage Beach.


Elisha McDowell

Elisha McDowell, 85, of Oaage Beach died Saturday, Sept. 12,1992, at Lake of the Ozarks General Hospital in Oeage Beach.

He was born Dec. 17, 1906, in Zebra to William and Eva
Luella Scott McDowell. On Nov. 21,1962, he was married
in Osage Beach to Alma Knoche, who survives at the.
home. Mr. McDowell was a member of the Harper Chapel Methodist curch
and worked in maintenance before his retirement.

Surviving, in addition to his wife, are three sons,
Wilford McDowell and Richard McDowell of OsageBeach and Willard McDowell of Foley; a sister, Desta Davis
of Eldon; three brothers, Otto McDowell of Kaiser, Gordon McDowell of Macks Creek and
Kenneth McDowell of Flippin, Ark. Seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and two step-great-grandchil�dren.

Funeral service, were held at 10 n.m. Wednesday at Harper Chapel
United Methodist Church in Osage Beach with the Rev. Ross Fulton Jr. officiating.
Burial and graveside rite. were held at 2:30 p.m. at Chapel Hill
Cemetery in Kansas City, Kan., under the direction of Hedges Funeral Home of Osage Beach.


OBITUARY OF DAVID SCOIT


Brother David Scott died at his home in Camden County
Mo on the 26th of Sept 1887 with Paralysis. The
disease had been gradually developing for about two
years. He had often in the last three months told his
friends that he must soon leave them and pointing up
and nodding his head in his usual earnest manner

often with tears rolling down his cheeks he would add �Dave going to Glory World�
he _________________ four days before his death and seemed to sleep away his life �in Jesus�.
He was born in Barren County Kentucky July,1810
and his father Thomas Scott came to Northwestern Cole Co. Mo.
Califorinia Moniteau County line in 1817. He married Lucretia Jobe, daughter of
Elisha Jobe on the of 18 . He professed a Hope in Christ and joined
U. Missionary Baptist Church about
the year 1830 and soon became an active alous worker in the church,
especially energetic in the missionary work
also strict in his views and labors on church
discipline. In his last years he became more lenient
in his disciplinary �work but continued a faithful
firm Baptist until the last.

He was a member of Auglaize Baptist Church at time of
death and by his Holy counsels and work he had greatly
ordained himself to the entire membership.
He lived to enjoy the firm assurance that his first
wife Lucretia and seven of his children had gone
before him to a glorious rest in eternal union and
leaves a second wife and three children to mourn his
passing but had the assurance that they would to
family in heaven.

J. A. McDowell Rites Held

Services for James Andrew McDowell, 91, Mustang,
who died Thursday in Oklahoma City, were at 2 p m Friday at
the First Baptist Church with burial in the
Mustang Cemetery under the direction of the Turner Funeral Home, Yukon.

Mr. McDowell was born in Brumley, Mo. and moved in the Mustang area
in 1910. He was a retired farmer.

Survivers include his wife, Rosie; nine daughters, Mrs. Anna Wolf,
Mrs. Edith Dickson, Mrs. Odessa Koesch and Mrs. Zelma Bell,
all of Oklahoma City; Mrs. Daisy Jantz Moore; Mrs. Winona Rempe,
from Chula Vista, Calif., Mrs. Vertie M. Wood, Tulsa; and
Mrs. Maxine Pearson, Borger, Texas., and two sons, James of
Norman and Grover, Mustang.

Rosie E. Mc Dowell

Rosie E. McDowell 90 of Mustang, died Monday at an Oklahoma City nursing home after a very lengthy illness. Services will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday in the Turner Funeral Home Chapel Interment to follow in the Mustang Cemetery. She was born Oct 11, 1885 in Missouri and came to Oklahoma in 1912 settling at Mustang. She was a housewife and a member of the First Baptist church of Mustang.

Mustang Resident Dies

Arthur Franklin Scott, 91, died Thursday of last week at the home of B. B. Smith near Mustang, shere he has resided for six years. He was born in Missouri, Survivors include a son, Robert of St. Joseph Mo., five daughters, Mrs. Mary Smith of El Reno, Mrs. Alfred Benson of Richmond, Kans. Mrs. Sherd Parrish of Montreal Kans., Mrs. James McDowell of Mustang and Mrs. Robert Smith of St. Louis, 34 grandchildren and 30 great grandchildren. Funeral rites were conducted Saturday afternoon from the Mustang Holiness Church by Rev. B. G. Edmundson of El Reno and Rev Claud Newby of Mustang. Interment was in Mustang cemetery.


McDowell, James
Services for former Mustang resident James Earl McDowell were held Monday afternoon at Bill Merritt Memorial Chapel in Mustang. Military rites were conducted by Post #85 of Disabled American Veterans of Oklahoma City. Interment followed in Mustang. Cemetery. Mr. McDowell died on Oct 12 in Alexandria, La. following a lengthy illness. Born on Oct 7, 1922, to James and Rosie McDowell at Mustang. Mr. McDowell had been a longtime resident of Mustang until moving to Louisiana about four years ago. He was a World War II veteran who served in the U. S. Army. His Golden Gloves boxing experience stood out as one of his favorite memories. Survivors include one brother and sister-in-law, Grover and his wife Marjorie of Mustang; seven sisters and four brothers-in-law,

Survivors include nine daughters: Anna Wolf and her husband Lawrence of Oklahoma City, Odessa Koelsch, of Phoenix, Ariz., Zelma Melton and her husband Mac of Oklahoma City , Winona Rempe Wein and her husband Albert of Chula Vista, Calif, Mae (Vertie) Wood of Tulsa, Marcella Akin and her husband Robert of Mustand and Maxine Pearson of Border Texas. He was preceeded in death by his parents; by two sisters, Edith Dickson and Daisy Jantz; and by one brother, Reuben.

Mustang Woman Died

Mrs. F. A. Scott of Mustang died Monday at her home at the age of 85 years. She leaves her husband and six children, Mrs. Rosa McDowell of Mustang, Mrs. Janie Parrish of Montreal Mo., Mrs. May Smith of Choctaw, Mrs. Emma Bronson of Richmond, Kans., Mrs. Lillie Smith of St. Louis and Mrs. James B. Scott of Fulton, Mo. Funeral services were conducted from the Mustang Baptist church Wednesday afternoon by the Baptist. Minister and interment was made in the Mustang cemetery.

Obituary of Jefferson Davis BLOUNT 
published in The Reveille,
Camdenton, MO. March 16, 1934

Jefferson Davis BLOUNT was born in Osage County,
MO July 4, 1861. Died at his home near Zebra,
March 10, 1934. He was 72 years, 8 months and 
6 days old. He was the son of A.A. and Delia Anne 
Blount, pioneers of Camden County. He lived in Camden
County most all his life. His wife Sarah Blount 
survives him with two children Ursula Brockman and
Claude Blount. There are six grandchildren and two
great grandchildren. He has three living sisters, 
Lulu Ward, Drew Alexander and Mary Harper and one 
brother Hiram.

He was a member of the Camdenton Christian Church. 
His funeral was conducted by J.H.Jones, the pastor
at Camdenton, at Harper Chapel and burial in the 
Harper cemetary nearby.

He had many acquaintances and friends, many of whom 
attended the funeral.
A week before this obituary was published, there was
a notice in the same paper under "county news" that
Dr. Hoermann reports J.D. Blount as being very ill.

Linn Creek Man Died July 17 at Jefferson Barracks Hospital

Ferd Scott well known Linn Creek man passed away in the Veteran's
Hospital at Jefferson Barracks, last Tuesday, July 17, following a
lingering illness of about two years.
Interment was made in the Walnut Grove Cemetery at Boonville, MO.

Ferd Scott was born in Camden county the son of Mr.and Mrs. Elisha
Scott, August 28, 1892.
His mother preceded him in death several years ago.

During his active manhood he was employed by the United States
Government and worked on the Missouri River in this
capacity for approximately 30 years. He was a veteran of
World War I, and a member of the Masonic Lodge.

For the past three months he had been a patient in the
Veteran Hospital at Jefferson Barracks, where he accepted Jesus Christ
as his Savior and expressed him self as being ready to go.

Following his retirement from government work he devoted his
time to caring for his aged father in their Linn Creek home.
All during his life he was very thoughtful of his parents and their comfort.
He likewise contributed much of his time and energy to the raising
of a nephew, Earl Miller, the son of his deceased sister, Mattie
Miller, of whom he was very fond. He leaves his father, Elisha of the home.
Two sisters, Mrs. Maud Hedrick of Valley Park, MO; Mrs. Mary Whalen,
of Boonville MO. and his 5 nephews and three nieces , as well as other
relatives and a host of friends.

Funeral services were conducted from a Funeral Parlor in
Boonville Thursday afternoon July 19th.
