Antoine BIAM
"At the same time, fortifications were put in place along the Rhine. Depots for supplies to equip, feed, and outfit the mobilized troops were built. As always in case of war, the people were to contribute. The contributions demanded by the army were numerous. It was, therefore, that on the 31st of December 1792, Antoine Biam, Georges Hlate, and Laurne Dannenmuller of Schirrhein gave to the army their horses and their wagons for trasporting the supplies for Fort Louis to the Army at Wissembourg. They refused this, under pretext that their horses were sick and not able to work. The director of Haguenau, after having examined their case, gave them the order to participate in the next convoy."
