JAMES MONROE6 CREAGER, son of David5 CREAGER and Catharine WAGGONER/WAGNER, was born 4 November 1847 in Middletown, Warren County, Ohio. In censuses he was enumerated 1850 Census as James M., age 2 and in 1860 Census as James M., age 12.

James married 7 February 1878 in Milford, Kosciusko County, Indiana to Elizabeth RAPP, daughter of Jacob Rapp and Sophia Starris, born 2 December 1853 in Kosciusko County, Indiana.

James (age 30) and Elizabeth (age 28) (enumerated as CRAGER) resided in Van Buren Township, Kosciusko County, Indiana at the time of the 1880 Census with their one year old daughter, Mattie.

They have not yet been found in the 1900 Census.

On 25 February 1908, he moved with his family to Michigan, having purchased a farm in St. Joseph County near Constantine. He resided on that farm for a couple of years before retiring and moving into the village of Constantine.

James died 3 September 1926 in Constantine, St. Joseph County, Michigan. He is buried at the Constantine Township Cemetery.

[Note: Karen Anderson states, "The information is slightly off, as it says he moved to Darke Co. in 1859. The family was still on Warren Co., Ohio at the time of the 1860 Federal Census. They also lived in Kosciusko Co., IN, then removed to Constantine, MI."]


Elizabeth (Rapp) Creager died 19 February 1935 in Constantine, St. Joseph County, Michigan.

[Note: Obituary of Elizabeth (Rapp) Creager mentions her brother, David Rapp of Ligonier, IN and sister, Mrs. Margaret Creager [aka Margaret (nee Rapp) Angel-Creager] of Ft. Wayne, Allen County, Indiana. Margaret "Maggie" Rapp married (1) Marion Angel in Kosciusko County, Indiana.
