"The very old cemetery, simply called the Old Cleveland Cemetery, is out in the middle of nowhere. Peter Creager I and his second wife, Elizabeth, are buried there with other Creager's. Peter's stone was missing and the others were difficult to read, but one clearly said Creager on it. The other headstones are easy to read. I was deeply moved as I stood at these graves. I realized I was walking around on the very ground my ancestors stood."

"The Cleveland Family Cemetery is located on a farm south of the town of South Whitley in Whitley Co., IN. The last burial there was in 1924. The Cleveland Family Cemetery has abt. 144 persons buried in it and has basically been abandoned with many of the stones now broken or missing.

There is also the South Whitley Cemetery which is located within the city limits of South Whitley." This is a present day active cemetery (6,000 graves in mid-1999). "To my knowledge it has never been known as the NEW Cleveland Cemetery. The Cleveland Family Cemetery is not known as the South Whitley Cemetery. They are 2 distinct cemeteries. The two cemeteries are not connected.

I have been to both of them as my great grandfather, Riley Obenchain, was a brother of Susanna Obenchain Creager, wife of Christian Henry Creager. Riley is buried in another cemetery known as the Eberhard Cemetery, Whitley Co., IN. Samuel Obenchain and his wife, Catharine (Flora) Obenchain are buried in the Cleveland Family Cemetery, Whitley Co., IN. My mother was buried at the South Whitley Cemetery in 2001."
