MOST RECENT COMMON ANCESTOR'S CHART

Note: Family group chart numbers are assigned when there is a non-match with other participants in the Y-DNA Project. Each separate chart will reflect those male participants or their representatives having the same genetic code make-up...thus having the same Y-DNA as another and related in some way to a common ancestor. These charts will show the earliest known ancestor of each testee or his/her representative(s). These charts will show as much ancestry as he/she wishes to have published.

  • Information on Carel Enjoert from Carolyn Gibbons, Fayetteville, NC; Juanita Enyart, Claremore, OK; and Maxine Daly, Seattle, WA.
Presented here by: Roberta B. Pierson

Carel1 Enjard/Enjoert/Enyart was of Flemish descent it has not been proven that Carel is the father of Yellis.

Carel Enjoert left Amsterdam April 1664 on the D'Eendracht among 38 passengers arriving in New York in August 1664, with wife, unnamed, one son age 12, one son age 8 and a daughter age 4.

"The New Netherland Register", Vol. I, Feb 1911, No. 2, Pg. 17, "Pioneers and Founders of New Netherland - Carel Enjart", says "Carel Enyart may have been here before. At least on March 15, 1655, one Charles Ensardt was stated to have made an affidavit in connection with a trial then pending before the court of New Amsterdam. Ensardt may be a mistake for Enjardt. If he was the same as Carel Enjart, it is quite likely that he had come over ahead of his family, as was done by so many others, to examine the prospects held out by the country before emigrating. The Indian attack September 15, 1655, may have deterred him from taking over his family any earlier and the age of his next youngest child is conclusive proof that he had returned shortly after his first appearence here."

"April; In the Concord - Carel Enjoert, from Flanders, and Wife and three Children." He was married to UNKNOWN.

Yellis (Giles)2 ENYART was born on 1 Feb 1652/53 in , Flanders. He died in 1706/7 in , Richmond County, New York, USA. Surname also spelled Ingart, Inyart, Inyard, Enyard.

Yellis has not been documented as a son of Carel Enjoert.

The names Yellis, Jollis and Gillis are the same being Dutch corruptions of Giles. "OLD FAMILIES OF STATEN ISLAND", by J.J. Clute, Clearfield Co., 1990 (reprint of 1877), Pg. 45.

(Liber B, p. 174, Staten Island Deeds)

William George of Staten Island, the man to whom Yellis and Alice mortgaged their 80 acres on 18 July 1692 was Willem Jorisz Bouman, the husband of Alice's Aunt Hendrickje Johannes. Alice's maternal grandmother, Elsje Hendricks, married secondly Johannes Marcus, and Hendrickeje was their child. Under the terms of the mortgage, payment of the first half would be due 1 Apr 1699. However, by 29 March 1698 William George disclaimed all right, title and interest in the mortgage or lot os land. Alice may have died at about this time. (NY G&B Record, April 1999, Pg. 100, by Barbara Barth)

(Liber B, Pg. 174)

18 Dec 1702 Deed - Yellis Inyard, Yeoman, to James Fitchett. (Liber B, Pg. 563 Staten Island Deeds)

2 Apr 1705 - Elections, Northern District - Yelus Inyor, Highway Surveyor.

1706 Yellis is not listed on the Staten Island Census, his children are as Enger.

Yellis' will written 2 Jan 1706/7, proved 11 Mar 1707/8, recorded in Surrogates Court records Liber. 7, Richmond County, NY, gives the names of his 6 children, wife Trentchea, two brothers-in-law John Woglum & Ury Woglum; witnesses: Peter Hoogewater, Jan Maklys (his father-in-law), Oswald Ford. (Peter Hoogewater is Pieter Pieterse Hagawout a neighbor & partner of Yellis & John Harmenson who leased land together.) (NY - Abstract of Wills, Vol. 1, pg. 456) (NOTE: Jan 1706/1707 is by the Julian Calendar.)

"Yellis Ingart. In the name of god, amen. I, Yellis Ingart, of Staten Island, being very well in health but considering the bevity and shortness of my life. I leave to my son John, five pounds more than andy of the rest of my children. I leave to my wife Trientie, the use of 1/3 of my estate for life, and the use of my dwelling house, unless my son John or whoever of my children shall buy the same, shall build another comfortable house upon the same land for her to live in. I make my two brother-in-laws John Woglan and Ury Woglan, executors. Dated January 2, 1706.7. Wit: Peter Hoogewater, Jan Maklys, Oswald Ford. Proved March 11, 1707/8" He was married to Eljse (Alice) VAN WOGGELUM about 1684 in Staten Island, Richmond County, New York, USA.

MARRIAGE: Eljse (Alice) VAN WOGGELUM was his first wife. She was born about 1665 in Brooklyn, New York. She died about 1698 in Staten Island, Richmond County, New York, USA. (SOURCE: Barbara Barth, MA.)

MARRIAGE: 2nd Marriage around 1700 to Tryntie Vlierboom, the widow of Gerrit Bastiaensen.

The 1692 deed of Yellis Inyart's makes me believe that Alice was Else or Elsje, the daughter of Jan Van Woggelum (Jan Makelyck), and the sister of Yellis' second wife. (Barbara Barth)

18 Jul 1692 - Yellis & wife Alice bought 80 acres from William George. (Joris is George) William's wife was Hendrickje Johannes and they named a daughter Elsie in 1677, after her mother, Elsie Hendricks. Elsie Hendricks was Jan Van Woggelum's first wife's mother. (After whom Jan certainly would have named a daughter, but no baptismal record survives). Elsie Hendricks married first Jan__, the father of Styntie Jans, and second, Johannes Marcus, called her step father when Styntie and Jan were married. Elsie Hendricks and Johannes Marcus had a daughter, Hendrickje Johannes who married William Jorissen. At the baptism of their daughter Elsie in Brooklyn 14 Oct 1677, the witness was Johannes Marcus. So, the seller of the property was the husband of Jan Van Woggelum's first wife's halfsister. Else, or Alice, as Antje (Inyart) Craven named her first daughter (with the Dutch, the 1st daughter always named after the wife's mother) would have been the niece of William George and this was before Yellis married Tryntje Van Woggelum.

Jan Van Woggelum married Styntie Jans on 10 Feb 1664, dau Christina was not born until 30 Oct 1667, so since the first daughter should have been after the wife's mother, Elsje (Alice) was probably born in 1665. As Yellis bought his first piece of property in 1687, that may have been about the time they were married.

John3 (Jan Gillisse Jniaert) ENYART was born about 1687 in Staten Island, Richmond County, New York, USA. He died after Dec 1748 in Woodbridge, Middlesex County, New Jersey, USA. Surname also noted as Enyard, Inyart.

1st MARRIAGE: Barbara Barth says Alkea/Alhoa may be a Cresson, daughter of Joshua & Aeltje Cresson.

Census of Staten Island in the Year of 1707, Genealogy & Historical Miscellany, by Stillwell, Vol. 1, Pg. 150 & 151. Lists MEN from 16 to 60 (60 crossed out), John Enger(sic)age 21, WOMEN Christine Enger, BOYES Charles Enger & Tise Enger, GIRLS Anne Enyer.

1712 - Bond of Jacobus Craven of Staten Island in ye Co. of Richmond in ye Province of New York, labourer, to John Ingart of the same place and county, husbandman, dated Apr 7, 1712. Given to secure the payment of L45 current silver money of New York at two several payments L22.10s at or before 1st day of September next ensuing the date hereof, and the remaining L22.10s at or before the first day of September which will be in the year of 1713. Wit: Oswald Foord and Sarah (X) Foord.

John served in the New Jersey militia of 1715 under Capt. John Moore's Company.

John had a colonial land grant in Woodbridge, N.J., 900 acres map #1697.

20 Jan 1721/2 John sold to his brother-in-law Jacobus Craven his tract of land on Staten Island which his father was granted in 1697 named his wife Alhoa/Alkoa. Staten Island Liber C., p. 212 to 215. Recorded 12 May 1726.

Dec 1748 when John wrote his will his youngest son Benjamin was 7. It is not known when John died. Mary had use of the land until 1763 when Benjamin became of age.

SOURCE: "Charles McIntire of Colonial Virginia", by June McIntire Taylor & Lois McIntire Salisbury. He was married to Alkea\Alhoa before 1712 in Staten Island, Richmond County, New York, USA.

Alkea\Alhoa died before 1735 in , New Jersey, USA.

John4 ENYART Jr. was born in 1715 in Woodbridge, Middlesex County, New Jersey, USA. Enyard also spelled Jniaert, Inyard, Enyart, & Inyart and Enyeart.

John was to receive 5 shillings in his father's Will dated Dec. 1748.

According to the "Carolina Cradle", by Robert Ramsey, The Univ. of NC Press, Pg. 76, John was in Frederick Co. MD court records in 1752 and 1753, Pg 540 "John and Silas Enyart in a case against Joseph Woods."

Carolina Cradle, Pg. 130 says "Either of Baptist or Quaker origin were...John & Silas Enyart"

1752-1753 Frederick County Court Judgment Record, Pg. 540. Joseph Wood VS Silas & John Enyart - Judgment. November Court (NOTE: This is the complete record, nothing else was given.) This John would be the brother of Silas as John, Silas' son would only be about 13, RBP.

NOTE: I have no documentation that shows this John is the father of the John Enyard who died in Jefferson Co. TN in 1806. However, The Carolina Cradle says John & Silas came together & it seems logical to me that if John & Silas were together in Frederick Co. MD that they would have traveled together to NC. Maxine Daly of Washington, believes Silas brother of this John is the only one that went to NC & is the father of John Enyard d. 1806, however, none of the children in this line are named Silas. (Roberta Pierson) He was married.

John5 ENYART was born about 1739 in , Middlesex County, New Jersey, USA. He died in 1806 in , Jefferson County, Tennessee, USA. Maxine Daly, Seattle, Washington, says this John is the father of Mary Enyard Cate.

If this John is the father of Mary Enyard Cate she would have been by a 1st wife. Mary was born ca 1760 as her 1st daughter was born 5 Nov 1780. Rebecca was born by 1765 or before to be 45 & over on the 1810 Cumberland Co. KY Census.

Fairview Cemetery - Oregon Historical Cemetery Association:
The white settlers who first made permanent homes for their families in this area did not agree on a permanent graveyard and may burials took place on private grounds. It is believed that Tom Jackson was buried on the Jackson land claim that was purchased in1881 by Thomas W. Johnson. He gave one-half acre of his farm to be surveyed into blocks and lots and named the tract Fairview Cemetery. He then deeded the cemetery to the local school district.
Soon the small site was filled, Thomas having died in 1882, and his son Calvin laid out and sold three more rows to the east. In 1909 two adjoining acres were surveyed, and in 1910 when Calvin died his widow sold that section.
Lots in the cemetery sold then for $5 per block, which wasn't enough money to property care for the grounds. Over the years additions land was added and a cemetery board was formed in 1946 to provide maintenance.
Gravestones at Fairview Cemetery date back to 1864 and include many pioneer families. Sarah Stevens Enyart, pioneer of 1844, was laid to rest here in 1888. Malcolm and Lucinda McKay and several members of their family are here also. Malcolm, born in 1821 worked for the Hudson's Bay Company as a farmer and storekeeper on Sauvie Island.
