Joseph Christian4 LEHMANN, (aka Christian Joseph /Joseph Christian LEHMAN) son of Michael3 LEHMANN & Mary Magdalena BIAM, was born 1835, baptized at Historic St. John's Catholic Church, Stark County, Ohio on 15 March 1835. He married on 18 April 1858 Emmanual Catholic Church, Dayton, Montgomery County, Ohio to Barbara MINRAD. As a married adult he moved back and forth between Dayton, Montgomery County, Ohio and Fort Loramie, Shelby County, Ohio. He eventually settled in the Dayton area where many of his descendants are found today.

Joseph Christian LEHMANN, s/o Joseph & Elisabeth (HARTER, not HALTER in the Church Records) LEHMANN, appears to have immigrated 1828 to America at the same time as Michael LEHMANN. Joseph LEHMANN was godfather for a son (Joseph Christian Lehmann) of Michael's & Marie Madeleine's (BIAM) LEHMANN at Stark Co., OH. It appears then that this Joseph LEHMANN must have lived within the vicinity of Stark Co., OH. According to Schirrhein Church Records, Joseph was widower of #1 Catherina HALTER when he married 21 Feb 1824 Schirrhein, Bas Rhin, Alsace, France to #2 Susanna HALTER, dau/o Jean & Elizabeth (HALTER) HALTER. Joseph's passport papers of 1828 says he has a wife & 3 children. Were these children of wife #1 Catherina HALTER or #2 Susanna HALTER? How are these LEHMANNs, HARTERs, & HALTERs related? Could the HARTER name in the record really have been HALTER? (Source: French Immigration Records; Church Marriage Record from Vincent FALTER) Nothing more is known concerning Joseph and Susanna and their family.
