I have heard that there were discussions with the Methodist Church about assuming possession of the cemetery, but that they never did so."]

Located on PRIVATE PROPERTY behind stockade fencing at:
310 Springfield Avenue
but owned by the unknown family living at:
330 Springfield Avenue
Westfield, Union Co., NJ 07090

[NOTE, 13 Apr 2001, courtesy of Gary MAHER: It is located near Mountainside, NJ border, which is about .4 mile away, near the Springfield Avenue entrance to Echo Lake Park (Mill Lane).]

[NOTE: This little Colonial graveyard is located on PRIVATE PROPERTY and is in very poor shape, but in what could be a beautiful setting. It is accessible only via a steep PRIVATE DRIVEWAY beside the house at 330 Springfield Avenue, but located behind the house at 310 Springfield Avenue. This cemetery is situated in the northwest corner of the township in Westfield. The majority of the stones have been dislodged from their bases and found lying on the ground, thus covered with vines, weeds, leaves, etc.. Many are covered in dirt of varying degrees. They are being left to decomposition; and many are etched away in time via the elements due to their fate. The mini-story told on each gravestone is lost or will soon be lost forever.  ASH]

Jacob Miller
s/o Enoch Miller and Keziah Ross
born 4 Mar 1794 & died Dec 1869.

Jacob married #1 Elizabeth Ross b 1793 & d 14 Sep 1846 at 53y.
Jacob married #2 Elizabeth C. Lee b 1820 & d 28 Apr 1861.
As we can see both predeceased Jacob.

According to above INSCRIPTION information, Keziah, was the wf/o Enoch MILLER (#3). This Enoch MILLER (#3) was actually the third generation of the Enoch Miller family. Enoch (#3) was the son of Enoch Miller, Jr. and Eliza Ross.

and his wife, Catherine "Caty" (DUNHAM) ROLL

James ROLL/RAWLE b 11 Apr 1787 Essex Co., NJ & d 2 Jul 1871.
Catherine, dau/o David DUNHAM & his unknown second wife; b 8 May 1792 Essex Co., NJ & d 16 Aug 1865.
James and Catherine were married 20 Nov 1808 in Westfield Presbyterian Church, Westfield, Union Co., NJ.
They lived in Westfield, Union Co. [originally in Essex Co.], NJ.
Both are buried in the MILLER-ROLL Cemetery [aka Old Methodist Cemetery at Branch Mills] in what is now Mountainside, Union Co., NJ.

    Brooks & Jacob and others were siblings to the murdered Baltus ROLL for whom the Baltusrol Golf Club carries its name.  ASH]
