  • ABBOTT, Joseph, hus/o Esther (OSBORN) ABBOTT. Researchers indicate that Joseph ABBOTT died abt. 1810 in Brown County, Ohio, and was buried in Franklin Township, Brown County, Ohio. He is said to have married a 2nd time after Esther's death.

    [One record states: ALLEN, Gideon; wife, Mary, "only dau Mary BARNES" [b 1824]; "d Mar 23, 1850," aged 25y 8m 21d]
    Todd Allen indicates their daughter, Charlotte C. ALLEN, died before Mary (nee ALLEN) BARNES was born, so at the time Mary (nee ALLEN) BARNES was their only daughter. Both Mary (nee ALLEN) BARNES & her husband (Mr. Barnes) died the same year and their son, Gideon Allen Barnes, went to live with neighbors at age 7 when his parents died.
    Todd Allen stated that the father, Gideon ALLEN, and wife of Washington Valley were given as members of Scotch Plains Baptist in 1799 in a record, but that isn't proven.
