ESTHER SINGLETARY [later Esther Dunham (alias Singletary)] was born about 1659 to Jonathan Singletary (later Dunham) & Mary Bloomfield. She married 1680 to Samuel Smith and apparently died before 1702, as she does not sign the gifted deed back to her father, Jonathan Dunham (alias Singletary) as did her mother (Mary) and her living siblings.

There is a question as to her birthdate and placement in the family, since according to tradition the first born daughter would usually have been named for her maternal grandmother or her paternal grandmother according to naming traditions of that name period. Their names at this time have not been found to include the name Esther.
