There is no 1890 United States Federal Census. It was probable that Albert continued to reside in the family home until his marriage. It is likely that during his growing years he worked along side his father in the saddle and livery business, and then with his parents at the Tecklenburg Hotel learning the hotel business. However, the 1900 United States Federal Census tells us that he was a grocer.

Albert married 31 January 1899 in then named Loramie (previously Berlin & Village of Loramies) (later Ft. Loramie) to FLORENCE IVY FLINN, daughter of John Waucop FLINN and Elvira Mae EDWARDS. They were probably married in the rectory, as would have been in accordance with the ordinance of the Catholic Church, since Florence and her family were of the Presbyterian faith. Florence went to the classes to learn about Catholicism and its teachings, but never converted. However in order to be married by a priest, she would have had to promise to raise her children Catholic. Florence was born February 1877 in Sidney, Shelby County, Ohio.

and unknown patrons

Having moved to Sidney from Ft. Loramie, Albert ran the Grand Hotel for a number of years until a tragic accident occurred. This accident must have occurred before 14 May 1910, as he and his family were enumerated as being back in Ft. Loramie at the time of the 1910 United States Federal Census. He was run over by a loaded, horse drawn, flatbed truck by one side of the truck's front and back wheels. It crushed Albert. He was taken from Sidney, Ohio to Fort Loramie, Ohio, where he was attended by Dr. Waucop/Walkup. He was nursed back to life, but within a year he was deceased.

Having recuperated, Albert wanted to march in a parade with the Knights of Saint John. He caught pneumonia from marching in that parade, and died as a result. Officially Albert Michael Tecklenburg died on 2 March 1911 at 5:30 A.M. of lobar pneumonia.
