PVT. PEARL WIGGINTON U. S. VETERINARY HOSPITAL NO. 12

My father, Pearl Wigginton was in the Veterinary Corps Hospital No12 in France and also in Germany as the Army of Occupation and stationed at Trier. . I have visited Trier with my son a few years ago and walked around the very base. I also have a picture of the base with the horses and I'll happily share it with you if you are interested.

I have pictures of the 12th at Trier, my dad in uniform as well as dad with one of the horses plus others. I do have dad's discharge papers, his medals, as well as pictures of the ships that the 12th went over on and back on which I think will make interesting additions to you website.

The 12th Veterinary Unit went to France on the U.S. Transport Huron and were identified as Veterinary Hospital #12, Item #Q 432 - 3rd phase. The 12th returned on the Nansemond. I will attach pictures of both of these ships to this message.

I have a question for you to think about - maybe you already know the answer: I have been trying to determine how the 12th Vet. Hospital was organized or placed within the 3rd Army. I am particularly curious as to what division they were attached to. My dad passed many years ago so recollections are getting fuzzier but it seems as though dad had said something about belonging to the 42nd or Rainbow Division.

Incidentally, the Gardner material was very enjoyable that you posted. It gave better insights into some of the details of my dad's experiences than I had before. I also found some interesting humor in some of the comments he recorded.

Pearl my dad on the base at Trier. If you look carefully in the distant you will see a clock on the top of a building. That clock is still there 90 years later! It was the landmark that helped us pinpoint the location of the base
