John Grigory’s Inventory

Inventory of John Gregory’s property as ordered by the court, as he died intestate (without a will).  Chatham County Record of Estates, Volume B, Pg. 10(b).  There was no recorded date on the document, however, according to the filing order the one before it was dated 1793 and the one after it was dated 1794.  This gives an approximate date of death (Bet. 1793-1794) for John Gregory:

 

“An Inventory of the Goods & Chattles Lands & Tenements, etc. of the Estate of John Grigory, Decs’d.”

 

300 acres Land, 3 Horses, 4 Head Cattle, 6 Ditto Sheep, 6 Ditto Hoggs, 3 Beds & Furniture, 7 Casks, 1 Hk?, 9 Geese, 1 Cotton Wheel, 1 Flax Wheel (spinning wheel), 4 Bels, 4 Plow Hoes, 2 Hoes, 2 Pots & Hooks, 1 Dutch Oven, 1 Skillet, 2 Guns, 4 pr. Cards (combing cards to comb the wool and cotton), 1 Wedge (used for splitting wood & rocks), 1 Chest, 1 Dish, 3 Basons, 7 Spoons (marked out and Plates written), 12 Spoons, 1 Iron Spoon, 6 Knives & 10 Forks, 1 Flat Iron, & Box Iron, 1 Cart, 1 Ax, some carpenters tools, 1 Gin, 2 Jugs, 3 Bottles, 3 Books, 2 Hides, 1 Loom & Gear, 3 Chears, 1 Tabel, 1 Grindstone, 1 Saddle & Bridle, 1 Tray, 1 Sifter, 1 Tub, 1 Pale, 1 Reep Hook.
