Please accept my apologies for not answering your letter sooner I had lent all my files to another relative and have had to remind him several times to let me have them back. However now I have them so to answer your letter.
Robert Woolliams m. Elizabeth ?
(occ. tailor Maugersbury Glouchestershire England)
William Charles Woolliarns was born in Broadwell, Gloucestershaire
on 23/6/1630 and was first married to Priscilla Matilda Mace sometime in
1851. They had three children:
Sarah born 1851
Elizabeth born 1854
Albert born 1857
Priscilla died 1861
William Charles married Rebecca Wilsdon Adams in 1864. It seems
that Rebecca had a child before she married William Charles. The
child was Laura Margaret and she was born in 1862. William and Rebecca
had five children of their own.
Frank born 1864
John Charles born 1866 - grandfather of Marlene Blood
Tom born 1867
Louis born 1870
Mary born 1871
The family excluding Sarah but including Laura sailed for New Zealand
on the William Davie. They left London on 10/1/1875 and arrived in
Dunedin on 22/4/1875. William Charles was listed as a Carpenter and
the cost of their passage was One hundred and Twenty Three pounds five
shillings. Travelling with them was a 19 year old girl named Emily
Minton, I dont know if she was to help with the children or not but they
appeared to have paid for her passage.
Elizabeth married a William Broadbent and they settled in the South
Island.
Albert married Bessie Baggett and they also settled in the South Island
Frank married a part maori Lady called Sarah Edwards and ther finally
settled in Papakura (I am in contact with their grandson who is married
and has four boys so he is doing his bit to keep the family name going.)
John Charles married Elizabeth navies and they settled in Marton but
eventually came to Hawera.
Tom married Henrietta McKay and they later settled in Hawera. Louis
of course you would know about and
Mary - I dont know a lot about she married William Hall Smith in Hawkes
Bay. They had Susan Mary, Marjorie, Violet, Tommy and Louis. Susan was
my Mum (m. Stan Hopkins).
Laura as I have said came to New Zealand as well and her name is recorded
as Woolliams on the passenger list but not on her birth certificate so
I dont~know if William Charles adopted her or not.
