Mark Shattuck (I am researching a Griffin family from Bureau County, Illinois. Anne Elisa Griffin. She is listed in the 1850 Census in Dover, Bureau County, IL.  Her father is listed as William Griffin, and wife Elisa Griffin.  Anne E. Griffin's birthdate is ca. 1839. She died in 1895, and is burried in Carney, Lincoln County, OK.   I believe that her mother's maiden name is Eliza Triplett.    I am not sure of her mother's birthdate, but her date of death is Jan 15, 1852 at age 40 years, 8 mo. and 2 days. She is burried in Triplett Cemetery in Wyanet Township, Wyanet, Bureau County, Illinois. On the grave marker it states that she is the wife of William P. Griffin. Two Griffin children are also burried there: Theodore Died Sept 16, 1847 at age 7. Almira Died Sept 15, 1852 at age 1 year.
Also, in the family  listing in the 1850 Census are the following: William Griffin   34  Place of birth:  Mass.

Peggy Strother  (Sarah GRIFFIN married Wash Strother 22 Aug 1839 in Tuscaloosa Co. AL.  She was born about 1825 in AL.  Sarah and her family lived all their lives in Fayette Co., AL.  They had 12 kids and the first girl was named Nancy.  I have always thought that Nancy must be her mom's name.  The second daughter was named Elizabeth, which was the name of Wash's mom.     Sarah's dad may have been Archibald Griffin, as he had a daughter named Sarah born about the same time.  Not proved yet, but  Archibald's 11th child born in 1847 was named George Washington.)
