Boone Co., KY, Delinquent Taxpayer Lists for 1800, 1801 & 1806

The following lists are of persons "delinquent" in paying their tax levies for the years indicated. The lists are buried in the middle of Boone County deed books. The significance of the lists is that most of the names mentioned are probably those who moved away, rather than those who failed to pay or declared bankruptcy in modern terms. Thus delinquent lists are useful in suggesting that a person has left the area, but they should be used in conjunction with the regular tax lists where those exist. A single levy is involved unless another number is in parentheses after the name, in which case other (unnamed) persons over the age of 21 years are levied as well under that head of household.
