NOTES:

·        Gottfried came to US in 1850 to avoid the draft in Germany. Our Family mentions that a brother lived in the area when Gottfried arrived in the Maywood area in 1850.

·        Christiane Laurette was known as Laurette, and originally came from Goldlauter Germany.  However I have not established her lineage or relationship to the other GUNTHERs in my lineage.  Therefore her line is designated as GÜNTHER #2.

·        Their marriage license #1565 was issued on August 14, 1858, however the Lutheran minister who performed the ceremony indicated that the wedding date was August 15th.  That is also how the County Clerk registered the marriage.  It was recorded Sep 07, 1858.

·        They may have had two babies that died in infancy. A letter I rec’d from the cemetery states, “Interred on this lot are Gottfried, Lauretta and 2 infants.”

·        There is a Christian G. AMLING who was interred at the Concordia Cemetery on Mar 26, 1897 at the age of 67 years.  This would give him a birth date in 1830.  This could be Gottfried’s “missing” brother as he would have been 20 at the time of Gottfried’s arrival. He does not appear to be the same person as the one named in the next note.

·        The following information also came from Concordia Cemetery, Forest Park, Cook Co., IL documents regarding a Christian AMLING.  I do NOT believe this particular person is Gottfried’s “missing” brother, but I have no idea what the relationship is.

o   Christ Amling purchased Lot 60, Section 4 on Apr 06, 1886,   “Interred on this lot are Wilhelmine Jeste, Ludwig Jeste, Louise Jeske (sic), Chas. Ardidson, Bertha, Elisabeth, Martin, Willie, Christian, Caroline and Infant Amling.”

o   In 1886 when he purchased the cemetery plot he lived in Maywood, Cook Co., IL.  “In 1951 the surviving children of Christ AMLING were Bertha AMLING, Anna L. MOST and Robert E AMLING.”

o   Interment info: Christian AMLING, died at Oak Park Hospital, date of death not noted.  Interment date was Oct 07, 1910.  Age at death was 72yr, 3 mo, 0 days.  Assuming a date of death 3-5 days before; that would place his birth date at or near Jul 2-4, 1838.  This would make him only 12 years old when Gottfried came to Proviso TWP.  This would make it highly unlikely to be the brother mentioned in “Our Family”.  Because the Amling name is not common, it is still very possible that they are related.
