Robert HOLLINGSWORTH
of Hollingworth, Cheshire, England

Valentine Hollingsworth, grandson of Robert Hollingsworth, and his family came to America from Belfast, Ireland in 1682. The family had been living in in County Antrim, Ireland to escape the persecutions of Quakers in England. Valentine and his family were journeyed in their migration to the New World with Thomas Conaway (his son-in-law) and John Musgrave, an indentured servant. The family settled on a farm near Shellpot Creek in the Brandywine Hundred, New Castle County, Delaware. Valentine was a member of the First Assembly of the Province of Pennsylvania. He served as a justice of the peace. He was one of the signers of William Penn's Great Charter.

His children spread out looking for land of their own and settled in different places in Pennsylvannia, Delaware and Maryland. Eventually, the families were spread out all over the United States. My branch of the Hollingsworths (Samuel Hollinsworth I) went from Chester County, Pennsylvania to Haywood County, North Carolina to Rankin County, Mississippi and Cherokee and Freestone County, Texas.

This isn't a complete genealogy of the Hollingsworth family. It isn't meant to be. It does however, try to trace my Hollingsworth ancestry.
