Blakely Shoemake

South Carolina & Mississippi
The road to discovering my Shoemake roots has been fraught with false leads, dead ends and missing records. This is by no means a complete a complete Blakely Shoemake genealogy. I am putting this information online in the hopes of finding out more about this family, in particular, Blakely and his son Elijah.
I descend from Elijah's daughter Amarantha Shoemake. She is my great-great-great grandmother and was married to William B. Walters of Jones County, Mississippi and later they moved to Washington Parish, Louisiana. I have been unable to find Elijah and his little family anywhere in 1860 so if someone has an idea, please contact me. Since this is a work in progress, new information is always appreciated.
